Unfourtunately no news on thief 4, which is a bummer. The very recent Randy Smith interviews shed no light on the future of Garrett, so we remain in limbo land I'm afraid. :( But I have read somewhere in a previous thread that Warren Spectopr recently claimed that "Thief Deadly Shadows was the end of the first Thief trilogy." Kinda raises suspicions a bit, doesn't it?
Now ZB has mentioned it, Garrett does have "super powers" (albeit indirectly). Hence his motto Master Thief.
Man, these Thief 4 posts just keep coming. :laff:
Do a search and you'll likely find your answer about a possible Thief 4. Unless some other studio drops down a load of money for the rights to make the game, it isn't going to happen...and considering Thief Deadly Shadows didn't sell very well, that's also another reason for another company not to do it.

Just be happy no new threads with Thief 4 in the title haven't been started lately. In fact, they all seem to have slipped off of page 1 altogether! Never thought I'd see that.

just to be safe: SPOILER ALERT!
The ending was true to the storyline I thought, as Garrett matures enough to assume the role of a keeper. (although, as it's hinted, garrett won't exactly be an inactive keeper) However, what I didn't like was the shallow old hag routine, yes she's probably an old keeper, and no you don't really learn anything about her besides that. With the other two games you learned alot more about the villan , which in turn made you feel like you were going up against someone.
So really, to me the old hag was just an old treebeast who had the ability to summon statue creatures... nothing more, nothing less, which is sad.
And another thing, I felt that the eye shouldn't have been place just OUTSIDE of garretts apartment, that was just too much convenience for me to swallow. Heh, putting it deep inside the cradle would have been more fitting .. (and also, if you think about it, a rather nice touch since it was originally taken from a cradle like enviroment)
But yeah, I did like the ending :P

Sounds like you missed a fair bit of the backstory about the hag. I can remember at least one readable that explains her background in the keeper order, which I think was in her lair. In any event, I felt she received as much fleshing out as the Trickster and Karras got - which didn't amount to that much if you think back.

yeah I liked the ending too. I liked that in the end (and we are left whit the impression of a thief 4) Garret (now being somewhat like a master keeper) is trying to hide in the shadows and a kid tryies to steal something from him. if you think about it, that's how garret started his thief life: he tried to steal from a keeper that was trying to hide in the shadows (and didn't want to bee seen, just like garret now) and he was a kid; he was trained by the keeper in the arts of "shadowing"; ended up on the other side of the keeper compund because he thought life was dull whit the keepers (maybe it was). so the kid would have probably made it up being the main char for thief 4.

What is a thief thread without an annoying "will there be a Thief 4 discussion?" ;)

hell, personally, i think if there is a T4, then they should make it a bit more like San Andreas, ie: no load zones (those piss me off), side missions, and free roam about the city at any time of the day, morning, noon, or night.
i think that may have been part of thier aim w/ T3, or thats how it seems to me, but they fell a bit short of the bullseye if you catch my drift. i definately think that there should be more rooftops, and considering that there is another little taffer running about with Garrett, a co-op mode perchance. definately make the city BIGGER (and by bigger, i mean about the size of say... Vice City). ooh, also, make Garrett a smidge more acrobatic than he was in T3 (jumping, climbing, and swimming, but naught else), like maybe let him do backflips or something to not only make it look a whole hell of a lot cooler, but make it more like one should expect from an acrobatic Thief (if he can jump from a friggin 20-foot ledge to the street with minimal damage, he should at least be able to do some acrobatics). im not saying make him work like Prince of Persia (Warrior Within is the one that comes to mind when i talk about this), but i personally think he should be able to say, flip over a guards head as he charges for him and run off down the corner, leaving the guard like "Wtf just happened?" which would come in hella handy when youre cornered by a guard or two.
and if all else fails, be able to use household objects as distractions. like so, youre cornered by a guard whos about to wail on you with unholy fury, but you see a glass of wine on the coffee table on your right-hand side, you grab the class and splash the bastard in the eyes with it, he drops his sword and starts grabbing his eyes and is like "OMFG! IM BLIND!!", then you flip over his head and run off, or neatly tuck your sword into his spinal column and send him roiling down to hell. or, youre being chased by a guard, and youre all out of arrows (broadhead, gas, fire, or otherwise), but theres a decorative, yet functional spear in the hands of a suit of armor, you grab a hold of it, and thrust it deep into his skull, or you find a sack of marbles that one of the nobles kids plays with, and you, in perfect cartoon form, throw them down on the floor behind you, make the guard slip, then thrust your sword through his skull and neatly plant his head firmly into the floor.
oh, and dont foget decapitations! :thumb: and throwing knives, out of arrows? NO PROBLEM! just throw a nicely balanced Thieves Best Friend Throwing Knife deep into his skull or chest, and make your escape as he falls to the floor dead. oh, and we cant forget actual bleeding, shoot an arrow into a guard, but fail to kill him, he starts to bleed and leaves a trail of blood youll have to clean up, how RUDE! :laff: and bleeding does make them take damage, but only for a while, after which, they DO stop bleeding, so youll need to plug another arrow into him.
and we cant forget poison! poison your arrows and watch the fun as your target vomits uncontrollably, faints, or even falls to the floor, comatose and inches within death. and people will eventually wake up from being unconcious from either a concussion or gas. oh, and also poison food and drink while your at it, when your target gets home and has dinner, they die after digesting that sirloin steak with mashed potatoes and gravy with a side salad and glass of exquisite wine. or go "Garroter" :laff: and use those nifty thin piano wires to stealthily slice off your opponents head or just strangle them.
ok, lol, im done. thats enough odd, ad-sounding probable additives (no MSG!) to Thief. damn, this has taken a long while to write.... i think im a LITTLE over-zealous here.. ok, ima shut the hell up now.
