Was it perchance Azura's quest?

Rats, zombies, beggars... And all the diseases, while common (Shakes, Droops, etc.) don't seem to give me any negative modifiers (and are thus undetectable in the status tab).
You won't get a seperate entry listed "Shakes" or "Droops" or "Astral Vapors" if you're diseased. Instead you'll get one or more negative effects that will list where they come from.
"Astral Vapors", which is carried by Dread Zombies, is a somewhat scary disease for non-Atronarch mages. Stunted Magicka can cripple someone who isn't used to the effect.

No. I was out hunting for equipment, and stumbled upon a cave full of vampires. Azura's quest has been done for quite some time.

Little bump here. I've confirmed that 100% magic resistance does make you disease immune. You'll still get the "You've contracted daedric clap." message, but it will not appear in your effects list or effect you.

Yeah, two of them. They got me into a barn, tried to steal my pants, but then I killed them.
Not as bad as the time I caught mudcrabs though.
