So, much like the Splinter Cell Ghost Challenge years ago, I suggest we have some fun with this great new game and track and discuss our ghosting of Dishonored. Splinter Cell wasn't designed to be ghosted, at least the first two, and Dishonored was. I'm only on the first real mission, and it's been fun and quite challenging at times to ghost. Hopefully, that's just from not being used to the game's stealth system yet. I do have a question right off the bat: I'm trying to get all the loot and do all the optional objectives while ghosting, naturally, but how the heck to you ghost the Gentlemen Callers?

I'm not exactly clear on whether or not you bust the ghost by killing/knocking out enemies in the side quests, or if it's only a bust if it happens while accomplishing the primary objectives. It seems like they wouldn't have put the stat in there if the side-quests and street encounters counted. There are several instances where combat is nearly unavoidable, though not strictly lethal on your part. Yet I notice the 2 missions I've played so far are possible to ghost, once you are in the "main" part of the mission and directly achieving the primary goals. Also, not sure if animals (rats, dogs, etc.) and Weepers count. I'll have to experiment with this. I don't think I'll ghost my first playthrough because it's so restrictive and I'm wowed by the locations - I want to explore without having to reload a million times. But once I do that, it's ghosty time for me, no doubt.

Yeah I'm thinking about not ghosting the first time through, just going non-lethal mostly, but my instinct is to always ghost.

Animals don't count. Weepers do. Weepers are still human for all intents and purposes.
EDIT: Dogs may count. I'm not sure about that but I know those pod things you see near water don't.

From what I can tell, the achievement requirements means exactly what it says. You can't kill anyone, or alert anyone. That means that KOing people is fair game as long as you aren't seen doing it.
I seem to remember getting the ghost checkbox on the first mission despite not leaving anyone conscious.
I suspect "Alerted" means not just that they've got white lightning bolts, but that they've got the red ones. For gentlemen callers, I'd expect you can blink far away, sleep dart one, hide till they stop looking for you, lather, rinse, repeat.

I don't know if that's really viable. What I did is I opened the door standing to the right of it as much as possible and then as soon as it opened I quickly moved into the next room and hid in the corner. Choked the first guy that went in the room, then quickly the second that went ahead to Granny, quickly back into the same corner, and finally the third guy as he entered the hallway.

Only just finished the prison escape (replayed it once for "Vanished"), but I am itching to go for "Shadow" and "Clean Hands" on the first playthrough ...
... err, anyone else contemplating "Mostly Flesh and Steel" on the first run? I'm a bit worried it might kill the game for me if I go all hardcore (going for all three aforementioned achievements simultaneously) on the first run - plus I won't get to fool around with all the nifty powers.

Hm. Bone Charms are randomized. Could make this real interesting.

So far, up to the Lighthouse, I've been able to get all zeroes and the ghost checkmark on the stats screen. Very minimal KOs, but for a first playthough I think it's okay, though not strictly ghosting, of course. Really really awesome.

Alright so my Ghost run was just ruined at the bridge level. Thing is I hadn't killed anyone and my final grade says I killed 5 people, does this include those damn River Krusts?
