That is interesting, I did get a copy of Thief Gold quite a while after it was published. I don't know why or see why they are not available any longer.
I am a bit daft with Tech stuff. :o Though I have been unable to get it to play on Vista.
Amazon UK has one copy and want £40 for it, just ridicules.

Gillie, I've got Vista and can play T2 with no problems. You could get some help in getting it to work properly, you should be able to.

Alright lads, keep your pants on! I don't agree with illegally downloading games, Thief Gold for me was an exception because I honestly couldn't find it anywhere else. It's sad that the game is no longer being published but I disagree that that should mean it cannot be played.
There's ALWAYS a way to get an old game. let me rephrase that, there's always a way to get an old game legally. Albeit, the download copy from EB games is crap....:tsktsk: The Eidos website still allows you to download the game, I believe. Though I'm not sure in what condition.

Thank you BrokenArts.
I did get T2 to play with Vista, thanks to a lot of help and tweaking thanks to the wonderful Biker,a few pm's later. :thumb: Did you have to tweak it as well?. I found it quite hard to do,then I am not very Tech savvy. I can not get TDS to play for some reason not that I have tried of late or Thief Gold, though I thought they would play. I do not have the latter two installed just now.

Macha, notice I commented out that word you used - the games are so old and cheap so there is no reason to look for non-legit versions, IMHO, I suggest you edit your post...
I knew that would be not passed unobserved, but I didn't made any comments. :laff:
Rapidshare sucks for games, buy them originals! Otherwise not new chapters will never come out. RS worths only for publicizing Fan Missions, or some erotic stuffs...

I hate to play devil's advocate here but these 'licensing agreements' may be one of the last strings holding the pc gaming industry together. In case you havn't noticed, people don't buy pc games anymore when it's faster (and obviously cheaper) to download the torrent. To bad the honest folk have to suffer. Still, if the PC industry goes under, I quit:P
I actually prefer to buy physical copies, or all the reasons mentioned in this thread. However, the probability of my buying any particular title is inversely proportional to the price. I bought a ton of games from a local closeout store for $5 each. I bought TG and T2 new for $10 each and TDP for $1.99 from EB Games.
I have pirated a few games in the past, but the majority of my games are originals. I like knowing that nobody has messed with them in any way.
I'd be willing to buy downloadable versions, only if they don't come with DRM that could potentially stop me from installing the game years later. I just got done playing Requiem: Avenging Angel, which came out in 1999, making it a decade old. If that game had had activation, I probably wouldn't have been able to play it legally, considering that the company that made it is long gone.

The solution is to give paying customers benefits that non-paying customers cannot access. The problem is actually implementing this... it would be very tough. Perhaps they could have downloadable content which is only available with a valid CD key, but then the players will just share that. I personally think that if games were made cheaper, they would sell *many more copies* and be able to offset the price reduction.
I agree, except for the "downloable content" part. If the content were things like add-on missions that were played outside the game, I wouldn't mind. However "downloadable content" today usually means mods and such that actually alter the core gameplay, such that the basic game can feel incomplete unless you download all the extras for it. Having a hard time completing that FPS? Download a more powerful weapon. Can win the races? Download a faster car.
