Yesterday I had to blacjack a stupid mechanist in the "Eavesdroping" mission! That pissed me off!

In my early days of taffing, I used to knockout pretty much everyone. But after a while, the levels began to feel lifeless and empty without distant footsteps and idle chattering. Also the tension is constant with enemies about and I like that. I don't like to reload when I get caught either. The thrill of the chase is too much for me to resist. And if it gets too sticky, that's what tools such as flashbombs are for.

Used to blackjack virtually every AI in a map to leave myself free to explore but after sending everyone in Running Interference to sleep I could only admit to a feeling of...disillusion. It wasn't until the enforced stealth of Framed that I realised the source of this feeling; blackjacking ANYONE let alone everyone undermined my immersion in a mission.
Even for someone as skilled as Garrett, the fact that I was guaranteed a perfect knockout every time I swung my blackjack at a non-alert AI reminded me I was just playing a game. There was no chance AI would regain consciousness, make a racket when they hit the floor, or just be thick-skulled enough to take off the blow without being knocked out.
Avoiding these niggling criticisms led to me adopting the Ghosting style of play, the fun/challenge I found making it through a mission while doing this is what has kept me playing that way right up to the present.
Well, that and sympathy for poor Benny...

I reload all the time, it's kind of an addiction... but it doesn't really bother me that much. Whenever I get caught I simply press that quickload button and try the taffin' "section" again. However, I've lately began to quicksave less often, making it similar to the auto-saves of "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" or "Dishonored".

I used to KO almost everyone back in 2006 when i first started playing Thief ,but it just ruined the atmosphere for me so nowadays i just ghost around, steal everything and Blackjack only when it's necessary.
