Umm, 6 dollars isn't free. That's some Komag math right there.
Considering that the shipping probably already eats up most, if not all, of the "price" you can't complain. But I guess some people don't consider it free until they get it personally delivered to their living room chair and get it shoved up their ass.

Well, no. "Some people" don't consider it free when they have to pay 6 dollars for it.
I'd be shocked if they were paying more than 99 cents a piece for each of these games. Remember, it's just the CD(s) in a jewel case; no inserts, no manuals. Another buck-fifty to ship inside the US. They'll be turning a pretty decent profit for something that they're "giving away".
And given that you can pick up the retail Thief 1 & 2 DVD for around 9 dollars on budget, it ain't such a swell deal.

Which is about the price for shipping a small package here in germany. Well, they probably can get it for about 3 or 4 dollars, so what?

Yeah. I can see they will become millionaries with selling old copies of thief. :ebil:
There are certainly enough ripoff companies available on the internet, but this doesn't really look like one to me. And even if they earn 1-2 dollars per game, or maybe 3. WHAT A RIPOFF!

The point that Strontium is arguing here is that paying 6 bucks for something is not the same as getting it for free.
The only problem with that is that noone has even said that it's free.
The OP clearly put "free" in quotes and explained that it's 6 bucks in his post and the site says "FREE + S&D".
So fucking CHILL dawg! NOONE IS TRYING TO STEAL YOUR MONEY

I don't think anyone's seriously suggested there's any skullduggery here; you've come up with that one yourself.
My objection is to their creative bending of the term "free". It's like selling something in exchange for "donations".

Okay, let's say that what you say is true. Let's say that they do pay 9 bucks for both. That's 4.50 each on average. The site may be paying 99 cents apiece, which I am not convinced of.... show me. And it may cost 1.50 as you say to ship. Have you priced the packaging? It aint free, ya know. Or did you forget about that? I can see the figure getting close to the 5.99. Of course, it has to be under, if they want to stay in business.
"He got close to 5.99 without going over. John, tell him what he has won!"
"Well, Bob, he has won the right to stay in business" (the audience applauds)
:D
BTW, I think that everyone knows that nothing is free. And even IF they were giving Thief away free of charge, of course someone can't give you something and pay for shipping and the packaging on top of that while they do it. It is not reasonable for us to assume that we would not be paying something somewhere.

I've no idea what the hell you are going on about (9 dollars is the approximate UK price for a shop-bought Thief 1 & 2 DVD) but in the interests of letting this sorry thread die a quick death, I don't intend to extrapolate further.
