The first episode of the free Doctor Who adventure games has been released (only for UK right now, although I hear using a proxy can work if you are not in the UK)

The animation work is sub-Oblivion. The characters look like they fell into the Uncanny Valley and since they had broken their arms in the fall, it's impossible to claw their way out.

Since it's a casual game for kids, the puzzles are brain dead easy. The core gameplay is divided between mini-games and rudimentary stealth sequences that are linear as hell. The almighty Daleks might now be able to fly up stairs, but apparently it hasn't dawned on them to have some variation in their patrol routes.

The game is produced by Charles Cecil, creator of the Broken Sword series. Developed by Sumo Digital, who're best known for Broken Sword 4.

Just finished it, rather disappointed. I hadn't realised quite how kiddy-orientated it was going to be, but that's fine, small kids play games too. What was more frustrating was that they appear to have had a budget of about 20p - graphically it's about on a par with the original Unreal. Mind you, I suppose that's the kiddy influence again. I can remember a time when I couldn't tell the difference in animation quality between the various iterations of the Tom and Jerry cartoons.

Important lesson learned: when you're running away from Daleks, a six-inch girder presents an insurmountable barrier.

Tennant was such a scene chewer that they had to get John Simm to play the master so he wouldn't seems so bad.

Matt Smith has been brilliant this far and has established the traits his doctor already!
