Hello fellow taffers!
I just started 'Life of the Party' (first playtrough i can remember, no spoilers please)
But throughout the previous missions, I found the scouting orb never useful (it can't even zoom in!)
Anything it can see, I can hear, and since I can't move while using it (or move then switch back to it, making it my personal hidden camera I can spy through) it's much less useful than leaning.
Am I doing something wrong?
What uses have you used it for?

It really is useless to an experienced player. I think most of us only use the blackjack, rope and (occasionally) water arrows now.

It's useless because there have been few game moments for it to be useful. I can think of quite a few ways it could be the ultimate little toy if the game demanded it.

I only used that thing once. That was to see what it can do. I never had an actual use for it.

Apart from watching dancing zombies and it functioning as a mirror, it really is quite useless.
Oh, and it stops your fall.

You can't even watch someone killing you with it, because when you're hit it swithces back to your view.

The only moments I use them is checking if a camera doesn't face me, and in the OMs the cameras are so easily placed I never used them there.

Guess that's one of the things TDS got right - dropping the scouting orb. The potions and flares were pretty useless too. Not to mention flash mines and the sword. Come to think of it, most of Garrett's equipment wasn't really needed, was it?
Paulie007 on 17/11/2009 at 20:18
I wouldn't say completely useless. There has been many an occassion when it helped me avoid detection. I also like being able to view Garrett from a different perspective, even if it does look a bit crummy.
The ability to rotate, zoom in or even created a distraction to draw guards out of position with the orb would have been nice.

What's distracting as well is the thought of leaving such a precious thing in some random house.
