Does anyone else remember that one board game that was like monopoly in space? - by Bluegrime

Iirc the players used colored spaceships as markers and you could purchase satellites and such in place of hotels. Oh and you could run out of fuel and going from point A to point B had some kind of complications to it. And the map was (probably) based on our solar system.
I haven't played or even seen a copy of this board game for nearly ten years so I may have gotten some of the small details wrong. But can anyone help me?

Yeah, I used to play that game quite a lot as a kid.
In retrospect, it wasn't particularly interesting (add a few complications to monopoly, and profit!), but at the time I thought it was awesome.
I mean, it was in SPACE!
Also, in the entire time I played it, I don't remember laser battles ever having any effect on the outcome of the game at all.

Not sure if you already knew, but that looks like a computerised clone of the original board game.
EDIT: btw, can anyone see my earlier post in this thread? I only ask because it doesn't seem to show up in the response count.

So was it you stopped in my planet please pay restitutions to the Galactic Empire of Chade or face a term in a hyper galactic gulag?

I can see it. Odd.

Well, solarquest is pretty big ... it was always a toss of the coin whether my brother would actually land on one of my planets before we got around to the real meat of the game: accusing each other of cheating.

So, did you guys allow the attack rule? One of those twists to monopoly was that you could spend your turn and a bunch of fuel to shoot a fucking laser at other players.
IIRC, a full-on direct hit eliminated the player. Remember that well, because I owned nearly the whole damn solar system when I got hit.

I always played with lasers. And I remember dozens of times that I'd run out of fuel and end up stuck orbiting some planet for several turns until my brother would extort me for my valuable property in exchange for just enough fuel to break orbit. The bastard.
