That's actually a very good idea! About the cloak, I mean, and taking it off for the missions. It would make sense.
As for the original thread question, I like Garret's in-game look, but it would be a lot easier to give a complete answer if he at least looked the SAME throughout the game. I mean, the game itself has one version of him, the digital cutscenes another one, and the painted ones about a dozen more.

I think his cloak in the "usual style" cutscenes was enough. Otherwise he'd had to wear it on his back, too, when he's on the job. By the way, as long as he's not wearing Dracula's cape from that Coppola movie, it would be impossible to hide a quiver plus bow on his back. But that's the same discussion like the one about his endless loot inventory.

He doesn't really to me... I liked how he looked on the T1 and 2 boxes.

I think he sould just remain a faceless shadow. No matter when I see him he looks funny. In T1 when he was being hired to do the big job (no spoilers) to me it looked like he had one of those military buzzcuts. And in T2, in the already mentioned scene, he looked too... beffy old military guy's face. And I've never played T3, but he looks funny in the screenshots, like a depressed ex-emo horse. If I had to pick one, I would pick the one from T2 with the arrow drawn and hood up. Make's his mechanical eye noticable without the 3 foot long scar.

I never though it made much sense for him to wear a huge cape. If he is already wearing all black, a cape is unneccessary in that it risks getting caught on something or being seen as he flees a scene.
I like his rugged, scarred look. No particular game - I was never able to finished 1 or 2, so it really doesn't matter.

I don't actually have Thief 3, but I've seen a screenshot... I like how he looks on the cover of Thief 1 and 2 better, and personally I think he looks a bit odd, almost like a jester, in the screenshot I saw o_o But generally I think they did a good job. :thumb:

Well, I'm assuming that Garrett has short hair... So if he had a cloak, it'd help mask the back of his head and parts of the front. Besides, it just looks awesome!

*applause for the last post*
In the Dark Project intro movie (not the Keeper's Training movie), there is a 2 second closeup on Garett's face as he looks from left to right. That is the real Garrett. :)

Indeed, the Garrett from TMA was by far the best. I was very displeased by the looks of Garrett in T: DS -- he looked like some asian, almost cartoonish figure and he differed alot from cutscene to cutscene. Perhaps one of the most annoying things in TDS for me.
