Does shooting rustmites in Thief 3 count as a kill or "damage dealt"?

I wouldn't mind changing the Faction Status, but I'm playing as a pacifist. Does shooting rustmites affect stats?

Not sure if it counts as "Kills". It does affect your Alignment. I don't think it affects your "Stats" as in People killed. It may, I say may, count in the "beasties" killed.

Damage dealt, deals only with AI.

I think not.

Umm...why do you need the stats to tell you? Its whether or not you kill them that determines if your a pacifist, not what the statistic feedback tells you. :erg:

You're right. Stats don't mean much. The only AI in the game I've attacked was the guy they force you to blackjack in the training level, and it says 4 bodies discovered.
What I'll do is play the game once as a pacifist, and reload a save and shoot the rustmites.
