Blog posts explain much - for example the fact that anyone who has a blog is not worth listening to.
Maddox says so, so its de facto true.
I do agree with dethtoll though that doom3 should have been a SS analogue. At the beging when i got the first PDAs and used the first "computers" and panels i was almost sure that *this was it*!

(btw, i can see that dethtoll posting after me but wanted to remind you that he is on my ignore list so don't expect any answers or follow-ups to his comments. therefore some of my posts can look out of context if you take dethtoll's comments into account. maybe I even repeat things he asked or clarified. just that others know, i already thought of including my ignore list in my signature to make this more clear)
hahahahahahahaha I know you read my posts anyway

I`ve got to admit that I`ve often wondered what Quake would have been like if it stuck to its rpg origins.

Except without the "what the fuck did
that switch do?" bullshit, most likely. Or the FUCKING SHITGODDING EGYPTIAN TILE PUZZLE in Hexen II.

I only ever played the first one. Melee-based combat in the doom engine? A travesty. Jesus.

I hope this means that the release of the Doom 3 source is coming sooner now.
This will really help the Dark Mod.

You'll have to wait until 2009. Carmack historically only releases source code after 5 years.

I've never heard of him operating on a set time limit, just when the new tech is released has become the standard for Id. :p
