Well it's not an exact limit, but on average somewhere between 4 and 5 years passes before he releases the source code of a given generation of id Tech.

John Carmack declared that story in games was equatable to story in porn.
Someone send him a DVD of "Wild Things" and lets get some SAUCE code up in here. Yo.

You'll have to wait until 2009. Carmack historically only releases source code after 5 years.
That would be fine though. The Dark Mod will be out, people will have used it and will know exactly what they want to tweak.

I haven't installed D3 in like 2 years. If I do it's because I'm going to try and make a half-assed [CC] mod for Resurrection of Evil. It always burned me that I couldn't play it because the original mod that was supposed to bring captions to it never got off the ground and in fact I think all the [CC] mods are dead now- they never released the new version of the Doom 3 one, for starters.
Anyone want to help? It won't be anything fancy, just something closer to an old beta of the [CC] mod that put in readable text for the PDAs, plus some spoiler-tagged readables for the videos.

How does one go about adding closed captioning to Doom 3?
Is this in some way different than subtitles? Are you including captioning for sound effects and shit?

The expansion for D3 wasn`t too bad. The gravity gun ripoff was very useful.

Perhaps they'll do it with cartoon-like graphics like Team Fortress, you know, it's edgy n' shit.
