Hmm, that continues a lot with what I said before - the world looks really shiny and bright, almost like it has a slight Mirror's Edge vibe to it.
I like how a lot of the visual "garbage" like highlighting enemies can be turned off, at least.

Step 1) Call it just DOOM, not DOOM 4.
Step 2) Say "We've taken the DNA of Doom, and said how does it translate for a modern shooter audience."
Step 3) Keep only the shallow aspects of the game and re-imagine them.
Now granted, unlike the Thief series, the DOOM franchise has never had much depth...although I think they missed a great opportunity to deepen the DOOM experience (eg. Half-life).

They kinda did that with Doom 3, which followed the Half-Life 1 mold fairly closely (regardless of how well or otherwise you thought they pulled it off).

This really is an annoying new trend - Thief, Tomb Raider, Hitman (wait, there's something in common there). The worst part is having to come up with lame generic names like "Thief 2014" to distinguish the reboot from the original.
Nameless Voice on 11/5/2016 at 21:43
Well, technically the original in that case is Thief: The Dark Project, but... yeah. Thief is the name we use for the series as a whole.
At least with the Thief reboot people can call it Thiaf.

The best thing that came out of Doom 3 was TDM. The game itself wasn't terrible, but comeon. Doom is about one thing, and one thing only: frantically shooting at truckloads of hell monsters who want to kill you dead and also keycards.
Doom has and always will be an action game first and foremost. A bloody, first person Contra. Making the experience "deeper" by including stats and philosophical conversations with cacodemons won't improve upon its core concept.

There's another new video, a direct feed of the gameplay showcased during the nVidia event (though captured on Titan X instead).
The word is: "We were thrilled with the response to the videos that some in the audience captured and posted, but we also know you'd like to see high-res, full-screen gameplay. We weren't capturing live, (and accidentally left our GTX 1080 at the event when packing up - argh!), but we came back and captured this re-play of the demo. This gameplay is from a PC running Vulkan on a Titan X at 120 FOV - with the player's personal upgrades and rune perks set for advanced speed and movement capabilities."

People keep saying that DOOM4 is too slow. Are you freaking kidding me? THIS is too slow? Funny because the original DOOM games were nowhere near that fast and chaotic. But hey, my nostalgia knows better!
