It'll just make them not buy their games next time.
You don't honestly believe that, do you? These companies can do pretty much whatever they want to the gamers and we (most of us) will just keep buying the games anyway.

And what do "these companies" gain from doing that?, what's their ulterior motive?

It is rather obvious: more control. They can control the used market, what region you're allowed to play your game in, and whether you can play your game if you called someone a doo-doo head. I'm waiting until some company revokes a players' rights for posting bad reviews.

Don't worry, I'm sure big business(and government) would NEVER misuse the powers that are necessary in order to prevent piracy. This is just a misunderstanding.

Now if only we can get them to retract the 1001 ways this game got fucked up.

The first thing I did whenever I had a new party member was check the 'disable tactics' button. Dunno why they got rid of that in DA2, although with some effort you can get a similar effect.
ok, sorry, you are right then. do you have at least more than one set of tactics ?
I loved tactics in DA:O, the "better tactics" mod was pretty damn good and I had a "normal mob fight" "mob fight plus boss" and "lonely boss" setup so I could sit back and watch, only occasionally
intervening (mostly when the enemy casts crushing prison or when you had 20 archers all spamming scattershot - another bad design)

You actually used tactics in DA1? Much like DA2, DA1 came in 2 flavors for me - "Micromanage everything" and "Curb stomp, who gives a shit?". Only difference is that most DA2 battles are the latter, most DA1 battles are the former.

So I've read that the amount of copy-pasted locations in DA2 is a zillion times worse than ME1's side-quest worlds+dungeons. HURRAH FOR 18 MONTH DEV CYCLES!!!!!111
