Completely dismissing a game that I haven't played yet?
When it came to the aspect of Brotherhood that I actually criticized (That having a new game clashed with the ending for the previous game), I was correct. The only relevant part of that game(the ending) occurred outside the animus. As I predicted almost the entirety of the parts involving Ezio were filler that did nothing to advance the series' overall plot.
Also, couldn't the same be said about getting all stoked for a game that you haven't even played yet?

The combat is looking promising. I know that the walkthrough video seems to have generated some optimism amongst a good number of PC gamers (including individuals that wouldn't be out of place on NMA and Codex) on another forum that I visit. Hopefully stuff like the skill tree and various RPG systems aren't too "streamlined".

Yes it can. You see bullshit like all the time on the likes of web stores where they let you write reader reviews, Eg Amazon and Gamestop (maybe on the likes of Metacritic too). "HALO PART XIII: MASTER CHIEF'S REVENGE WILL BE THE BEST EVER!!!111 5/5 STARS!!!111" *sigh* They should really disable the reader review function for products prior to their release on those sorts of sites.

The combat seems the same, but those graphics look fecking horrible. Expect the release date to be shifted forward, I'd say.

Sorry, I posted in the wrong thread. I was actually after the DRM status for the boxed version of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.

Could someone please clear this up for me? After some googling, I can't find a straight answer to the following question:-
Will the boxed retail release have DRM or not?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure if it's up-to-date though.

the dragon age 2 demo is out on XBOX, PC is sure to follow soon.
UPDATE: it's live: (

well, it's certainly looking better than DA:O but still ugly, especially concerning lightning. the VO is triggered alongside the new idle/chatter animations
that don't work that well making some dialogues sound off and ill-timed, but I guess that's for an upcoming patch.
worst thing is tactics or AI or better - lack thereof. Even the rudimentary system in DA:O worked better. Your mage will trigger mindblast when enemies appear on the map,
not when they are in range (although the tactic says: being surround by enemies), your warrior will sometimes not trigger any abilities at all, another warriror refused to attack at all
without being directed manually. Sometimes a few enemies are not selectable to attack. Or they hurt an enemy down to 20% health and then suddenly change targets.
Your mage will launch fireballs into an area where no enemies are. So pause-play even on easy if you wanna really hit anything.
Apart from that the attack animatons look nice, I like the new interface and menue system. although textboxes are console-narrow and
hard to read on high resolutions. Most of the inventory/ability screens are locked but by the looks of it many of the abilities and customization options have been cut. Drastically.
Nothing about the quests or decisions you will/can make is shown atm, the only impact you have on the game atm is what class you chose, only a few dialogue options,
the morality system has gone from hate/love to rivalry/friendship for your companions and DA2 is another testament of the inability of every game ever produced to
proper autolevel-up your characters (as seen between the 2 chapters in the demo). I will still wait for the GOTY and save my money.

The demo isn't really doing anything for me, but maybe it's just a bad demo. I'm not getting any of the RPG story vibe that I got from the first game - just action game button spam waves of enemies coming down a long linear tunnel vibe.
mothra on 23/2/2011 at 10:19
yeah, there is nothing in there that could give me the impression of an RPG.
OK, you level two times, your dialogue choices only affect the VO atm, you can't decide anything
and the game forces you to make one decision if you want to or not.
The new char models are all bug-eyed and no woman in Ferelden is now allowed a cup size below D,
even nutty old witches from DA:O return with full cleavage and better skin....
It certainly looks more comical for me. I'm sure there is some RPGing in there somewhere,
Bioware just decided to withhold it from the demo which is certainly aimed at all the non-RPG fans complaining that the combat in DA:O was "boring".
It was boring indeed but not because of the "old rpg mechanics", but because the way Bioware had no enemy diversity and pacing, giving you endless waves of the same horde over and over again. Seems they learned nothing.

Can't say I'm particularly impressed by the demo.

Has there been any confirmation yet of whether or not we're getting mod tools?
