I read today that the Norwegian film institute has contributed with money to get the project started, it's not enough for a full game though so they will launch it as a kickstarter project.

I must say I'm surprised, I really never saw another longest journey game coming ever. I really hope this one will finally have a real conclusion to the story/series.

This is the adventure game with the stupid puzzles yea? like, beyond ridiculous?
A friend recommended it and I really wanted to like it, but the puzzles weren't so much puzzles as the embodiment of Guess what the developer was thinking

Guess what the developer was thinkingThat sounds more like
Gabriel Knight 3. There were one or two head-scratchers in
The Longest Journey, but describing its puzzles on the whole as "beyond ridiculous"? Does not compute.

Like the subway key puzzle? I dunno about you, but when I saw the shiny in the subway the first thing I thought of was attaching a clamp to some string and doing that stupid thing with the birds or w/e to get the rubber ducky ring, then ofcourse poking a hole in it was just obvious(maybe this was the thing with the birds), I mean why not right? then using the deflated ducky ring to close the clamp and fishing the key out of the subway.
It's a perfectly logical set of steps :erg:
Puzzles in adventure games are all too often silly, as above. The Gabriel knight one you speak of reminds of me of the one where you get a motorcycle or car or something by...not just stealing it, but spending way too long acquiring a disguise of a guy so you can steal it. ( Pretty sure both these puzzles were featured on a list somewhere)
These puzzles are time sinks and just add fake challenge/longevity.

That one is stupid, no disagreement about it, but it's also fairly exceptional in
The Longest Journey. The average puzzle is no more difficult or illogical than in your average Lucasarts adventure.

Well, its been a good 8 years since I last played it, maybe I'm being unfair. It's just more a pet peeve.
Was about to say I should give it another playthrough since I've got it on steam, thought I remembered something about compatibility, says XP only.
I think I'd rather have Beyond Good & Evil 2 anyway.
