RPS seem to think it won't.

Who's right here?
In either case I'll be getting From Dust since regardless of silly DRM I loves me an arty/abstract game.
Most wanted list:
Child of Eden
Journey
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus
Last Guardian
From Dust
Heavy Rain
(Deus Ex: HR)
Yeah, you see how this is going.

From the bottom of the (
http://store.steampowered.com/app/33460/) Steam pre-order page:

HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS AND CREATION OF A UBISOFT ACCOUNT ARE REQUIRED TO ACCESS THIS VIDEO GAME AND ONLINE FEATURES AND TO PLAY ONLINE. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 13 TO CREATE A UBISOFT ACCOUNT WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT. UBISOFT MAY CANCEL ACCESS TO ONE OR MORE SPECIFIC ONLINE FEATURES UPON A 30-DAY PRIOR NOTICE PUBLISHED AT (

Regardless, I didn't say I wouldn't play the game, I just said I probably wouldn't play it on PC. I'll likely pick it up on PSN at some point.

EvaUnit02, I found this article and I also went and
tested AC2, seems you were definately correct after all. Sorry for doubting you on that. The strange thing was that there was no indication that the game was really being updated, other than the Ubi launcher showed "checking for updates" or whatever, but didn't actually show anything being downloaded.

Just to add to the confusion, PC Gamer also reports From Dust will not require a constant internet connection.

I wish Ubi would stop jerking people around with this bullshit. They were very careful to phrase their statement such that, while they have seen a reduction of piracy: they don't say by how much, during what point in the game's lifetime, and whether or not their sales have increased or actually gone down.
The omission of these details suggests they're covering up for the fact that the DRM has been anything but a "success".

That doesn't say anywhere that you'll need to be constantly online - it could quite easily mean you need a one time online activation and the other stuff (being online to access the online features) is obvious.
Zerker on 1/8/2011 at 11:57
Well, it does say you need a high speed connection to "access the game", which implies always-on (otherwise why would it need to be high speed?)
Anyways, we'll see.

Just played the 360 demo. The handling is decent. The cops are as tenacious as in the earlier games. The plot seems to jump all over the place. For instance in one of the three demo-missions you're using your psychic Shift-ability to help a brother-sister streetracing team win the big race! How this relates to Tanner's quest of recapturing Jericho I do not know. Probably all these diverse characters' plot-arcs are intertwined in some way. Yes, I believe Driver:SF is trying to be the Magnolia of fast-paced getaway-racinggames.
How that works out we'll have to wait for the full game to see. All I can say for sure now is that it feels like an alright arcade-racer.

I pretty much agree with that article, but it's funny how unprofessional-sounding the journalist is with the whole "ffs"
