Telliamed's programm might be what you need:

Dromed Colors 0.94
Dromed has a number of its interface colors hard-coded in the executable. I dug into the app and found the location of at least some of those colors. The only one I was interested in was the brush highlight color, but have identified most of the others. This app is meant to allow you to change those colors. However, this application modifies Dromed and should only be used with extreme caution. While a simple backup of the file is made before applying changes, you should make a seperate copy and store it in a safe location with the read-only attribute turned on. Recognizes Dromed 1 v1.32, Dromed 2 v1.18, and ShockEd v2.12.
I already used it in the past years but don't know if it works also with ND-DromEd.

Ok Guys , Never though of using filters and didn't know the rest was possible. Thanks . Need to think on the best course for me. I would still like to edit Drom Ed but not sure if i want to risk my installation.

Always keep a backup of the whole installation on an external drive. You can do a backup every day, if necessary.

I doubt that will work with NewDark, since IIRC it adjusted values by offsets in the .exe.
There's also no need - all of the colours are configurable through the .cfg file in NewDark.
