Hello all,
I am cleaning up the Dromed FAQ, fixing broken links (where possible) and just doing general house cleaning. It occurred to me that with the advent of New Dark, we might want a New Dark FAQ. Is there a need for a separate FAQ for New Dark, do you think? Or is it better to just put New Dark questions in with the rest in the original FAQ. Just let me know your preference with the above poll and feel free to leave any comments about your preference. Thanks!

Add a new subsection within the FAQ, at the top, perhaps, and notes to certain existing entries. Anyway, thanks and good luck, and may you have the stamina to see it through!

What do you think about a little icon or indication for ND? Like have things stated as it may but if a offshoot applies to newdark have a little floating icon like how wikipedia has the citation floating numbers like a exponent. Maybe a tooltip? I may be getting ahead of myself. :erg:

I think the FAQ should be exclusively for NewDark, and the only mention of non-NewDark issues should be to tell you to get NewDark.

A while ago I (
http://dromed.whoopdedo.org/dromed/faq) copied the FAQ onto the Dromesday Book. I made a few changes but that was well before NewDark came out, so even that one is out of date.
Both have their pros and cons because more people will see the one here, but the one on the DB is easier for people to change if a new question needs to be added, or there's a mistake.

Some people might still prefer working with dromed 1.18 rather than new dark. I think it's important to keep the original info intact, at least for archiving purposes...

You might want to include some info on getting things to work in Windows 95 and things to do while waiting for your mission to light on a Pentium 2.

We have no intention of getting rid of the old FAQ, even were we to make a separate one for New Dark. I just wanted to get the authors' opinions about what seemed most useful and most convenient. You all are the ones who will be using it so it should be the way you want it (with the caveat, of course, that not everyone will agree). But the bottom line is that we won't be losing any info or resource that isn't already lost. And we'll hopefully be bringing things up to date.

To be a little less sarcastic:
The FAQ should assume that everyone is using NewDark, with anything that no longer applies to NewDark being marked as such. You can tag NewDark-specific sections too.
Most people should be using NewDark. Some older DromEd users might have reservations about it for whatever reason, but any new DromEd users are unlikely to have such notions and will instead want whatever works the best - and that's NewDark, so they should be encouraged to use it.
