So I'm having a serious problem with DromEd that's making it very difficult to work...
There I am, working on my mission, and I decide to press Alt+G to enter game mode. I walk around, check some things out, and when I'm done I press Alt+E to return to editor mode.
About 80% of the time, this works fine—my computer switches video modes, DromEd reappears, everything is great. There's a brief (2-second) moment where I just see a black screen, after hitting Alt+E and before seeing the DromEd window, but this is normal.
But the other 20% of the time, my computer never successfully switches back to "desktop" video mode (at least, that's my best guess about what's happening)—it just stays on the black screen.
Ctrl+Alt+Del does not bring up the Task Manager (or, more accurately, it probably does; I just can't see it). Pressing Alt+Tab does not cycle me to other applications.
Any audio that's playing in the background (e.g., Spotify) continues to play. If I try to provoke sounds (e.g., by mashing the space bar), I can hear the "ding" that means that Windows received the keystroke but didn't know what to do with it.
In short, all signs suggest that Windows is still alive and responsive; I just can't see anything. All I can do is forcibly power down my PC and reboot.
I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 with an ASUS R9 270 video card (yes, the drivers are up to date), with the latest version of TafferPatcher.
I used to have similar issues even with the game itself—quitting to the desktop would sometimes cause my video display to go completely haywire, flickering violently. However, I recently reinstalled everything from scratch, and I haven't (yet) seen that exact behavior again—just the black screen. (But I suspect they are different manifestations of the same basic problem—I've observed both in the same circumstances [immediately after quitting the game], and they both happen about 20% of the time.)
Any ideas? I'd love to try my hand at building a fan mission, but this is making it impossible.

I originally posted this in the wrong forum, and Le MAlin 76 helpfully suggested:
You use Raptr ? this software give some troubles to dromed.
You use this command : "new_texpal_toplevel" in dromed.cfg ? I disabled this, because it's generated instability too (i don't know why, it was not a problem of memory for me, for me droemd use maximum 30 % of memory, same with many HD textures).
However, I've never heard of Raptr. And new_texpal_toplevel is already commented out in my dromed.cfg.

Just letting you know I deleted the version of this thread in the Fan Missions forum.

Turn off the audio in the background. Is it better now?
Post your DromEd.log, btw.

Well, for what it's worth:
I had the ASUS drivers installed. I uninstalled every ASUS driver and application I could find, rebooted, installed the AMD drivers for the R9 270, and rebooted again. I've been DromEding for half an hour, and so far everything is good.
I also changed my game resolution to match my desktop, so that might have helped as well.

This is the culprit. Most likely. Switching between resolutions is always prone to failure.

That's actually what I was going to suggest if you hadn't tried it, it does cause problems sometimes.

Yeah, it's been perfectly stable ever since I did those two things. I don't know which one fixed it, but I'm happy it's working now!

And we are too, since you're new blood and we are always grateful to have new folks learning to tame Dromed and delivering new missions to the community. Welcome aboard.

Thanks. :) I'm sure I'll have a ton of n00b questions for you!
I figured a sensible first step would be to create a small, basic mission, and post it here for others to critique. Is that a thing that happens here?
