Zoom is useful
Agreed, I also find the zoom useful. With that said, when I played Thief 1 (before Thief 2 had been released) I never used the bow zoom other than for aiming my arrows with it (I actually never thought of using it in any other situation). When I later played Thief 2 I used the mechanical eye zoom a lot (because it was readily there) and found it useful and then when I turned back to play Thief 1 again I admittedly missed being able to use the mechanical eye zoom. You could call it an acquired taste, though...

If a mission didn't have it just because Garrett shouldn't be able to zoom yet, I'd just be annoyed and think it was a bug.
Well, I will probably be forced to leave it in anyway. I thought that this would have already been discussed, but when I searched the forums I couldn't find any one thread about turning off the mechanical eye zoom, so I guess it wouldn't be such an issue as I pictured it to be. I guess I could fool myself by thinking of it as more of a game feature than a Garrett-feature :erg:
P.S.
I just started T2X to see if Zaya has the ability to zoom (without using the bow zoom). She has and I never thought of it when playing T2X (even though it was never explained story-wise, others mentioned it being a bit strange though)... but okay, I think I can leave it in now without getting skinned alive.
I just searched the T2X-forum (which I never did before) and found Avalon writing this about T2X (among other things being said about the zoom feature that shouldn't be there for Zaya) in the thread (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19045) What new stuff do you guys want?:

I, personally, will be removing the Zoom feature from the keybinds. By editing a few files, you can make it impossible for a player to zoom in, because the keybind is gone.
It seems that it is in fact possible to turn the mechanical eye zoom off, but Avalon also wrote this (my bold):

Those of you who use your own keybind files.. well, you'll be warned beforehand to back them up;
they may accidentally go "missing" after the install process.I guess the same thing could happen with a single FM (since the keybinds are not automatically backed up through Darkloader (or are they?)), so I will leave the zoom intact for my mission and if people (including me) want to remove it, they can do that themselves (whenever my mission gets released, that is).

One of the things in the readme says DromColours [Program to change DromEd's colour scheme]
Where is it located?
Also, when I do a render, some Room brushes turn bright neon blue. What does this mean?

yes, I've been wondering about that too since i use the toolkit.
the blue roombrushes seem to work fine but it gives me the creeps a bit....:sweat:
Nameless Voice on 22/4/2008 at 03:14
They're being highlighted as "bad rooms", probably because they intersect inside a solid, or have their centres inside another room brush.
nightshifter on 22/4/2008 at 03:32
thank you nv.
you were ( ofcourse :cheeky: ) right.
I had those roombrushes placed wrong.. ( centre inside another roombrush)
great that it is display instantly after building room database

.....And renamed to DromEd 2 Toolkit? Simply called DromEd Toolkit implies it works for dromed 1 and dromed 2. :erg: At least that's how I see it.
And R Soul and Nameless Voice: Grr:grr: , you guys don't seem to understand... Just because you both don't like dromed 1 doesnt mean others have to dislike it too! Perhaps people like using D1 because they don't have thief 2? Or perhaps they use D1 because of the resources from thief 1/gold and they want a thief 1/gold mission? Etc. etc. I don't think the fact that "dromed 2 has more features" blah blah blah is the issue here. Just my .02 cents.

"DromEd" == "DromEd for Thief 2 v1.18"
"DromEd1" == "DromEd for Thief 1, either v1.35 or v1.37"
"ShockEd" == "DromEd for System Shock 2 v2.12"
