Root directory as in C:\ or do you mean the root of the Thief folder?
"Cannot find GUI font" means that it can't find the file editor.crf, which should be in your Thief 2\Res folder.

The root of the Thief folder,
Presently C:\Games\DromEd\
and editor.crf is present in C:\Games\DromEd\Res\
EDIT: Okay seems to be working now?!
But more problems occur...
Firstly, adding info in your first post to user.bnd to make the game return to DromEd, I have the same problem as Garrettwannabe where no other controls work. Secondly, when the game returns to Dromed, Dromed takes up the full screen and is missing the title and menu bars. I'm using Vista and DDFix. Could this be the problem?
FYI - Dromed is set to 1024X768 (as is Thief2.exe), Screen is set 1280x1024
Also, is Thief2.exe needed for a DromEd only install?

The missing title bar is because you're using an old version of DDFix. Get a newer one. You might also want to try running DromEd in a window (see the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449#DromEdMinimise) DDFix FAQ).
You should still keep Thief2.exe for testing your mission in 'real' game mode.
What program did you use to modify User.bnd? Windows Notepad doesn't support unix-style files and will probably corrupt it.

I've used Windows Notepad for years editing user.bnd, user.cfg, dark.cfg, etc. and never had a file corruption problem that I know of ... Are you sure there is an issue, or do you just suspect there might be one?

I seem to recall it happening to me once, but I'll admit that I can't remember which of Dark's configuration files it happened with.

Well, I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to release a line editor which does not play nice, but so far it seems to ... knock wood.

Success! Sort of...
Fixed the problem with controls. Used Notepad which seemed to save it fine but after DromEd closed the file ended up corrupted, which seemes to have fixed itself.
As for the fullscreen dromed problem, I am using the latest ddfix version, and I tried the Windower program, but I don't like that Game Mode is windowed to. I'll just save before going into game mode, and when I'm finished I'll just close and restart. It's no big deal really, because Dromed seems to be working and I can finally finish Aria Part 1: Being Human.

If the window size for the DromEd "window" is the same size as your desktop size, then you won't even notice that it's running in a window (because it will be a window that takes up your entire screen). At least, that's how it works for me.

Dromed is set to 1024X768, Screen is set 1280x1024

So why not set the game mode to use 1280x1024 as well, then?
