Just got the wife a new machine and of course I've gotta have Thief on everything. (Will be nice to have another machine around for mission testing) Anyhow...I've gone through the FAQ and examined the instructions in this link.

I was going for the permanent solution. I found
Windows/System32 just fine but I have no
Windows/System32/dllcacheThis machine has XP service pack 2 media center edition. P4 3.0gig. It's brand new. Just got it yesterday.
I tried the first fix for thief 2 and found no
Thief2.icd in the task manager but I did find
Thief2.exe. I was able to uncheck one of the processors and the game played just fine for about 5 minutes...so I
think I'm OK.
Both Gold and T2 were locking up in the first few seconds and that's when I remembered something about the dual processor thing. I assume the temp fix will work for Gold as well.
Any comments/suggestions about the permanent fix?

The dllcache folder is hidden, so you will have to get explorer to show system and hidden files and folders.
To do this open explorer and go to Tools->Folder Options and choose the View tab. Under this you'll see an option for hidden files and folders, choose the Show hidden files and folders checkbox. You also might like to uncheck the Hide protected operating system files box as well.
Hit apply to all folders and then close Folder options. You should be able to see the dllcache folder now.

You don't need to worry about the Thief2.icd.
If you need the IMAGECFG.EXE program I can email it to you.

Cool...thanks. I'll mess with it tomorrow. I got the file from the other page.
EDIT:
OK.... works just fine right now. Looks butt ugly though..not sure if it's the cheap flat panel or the vid card. Oh well. T3 runs VERY well on the new machine... Got GL installed too.
