The original Sin was really good. I quite liked the computer terminals you could use since it was like an actual pc monitor, having to type dos style. Quite a cool thing.
Was too many fps games to choose from back then though, and Unreal 1 was far more appealing. Watching that youtube video makes me want to go back and play it though.

I was a SiN, Duke 3D, and Half-Life fan. Unreal...meh. It was ok, but whatever. The rest, I could take or leave. Those were the 3 I lived and died by.

A really good game, it was not.

Sin was a pretty mixed bag for me, too. They did a lot of great things (especially for the time), but the game was far from uniformly good, and for every neat feature, there was some horrible writing or awkward gameplay or "when-will-it-end" underwater level to negotiate. The expansion pack didn't improve things, IIRC.
As much as I appreciated many elements of the game, I've never felt the urge to go back and replay it (except for that time when I read how to pull up the helicopter's minigun as a regular on-foot weapon, and played around with that for a laugh :)

I seem to recall SiN being marketed on pretty much:
a) Alexis having huge fake boobs
Which was a bit of a disservice to the game really, because there was some cool stuff in it for the time (Working Cash Machines, Shiny!), and it was moderately enjoyable. The boobs were a let down.
And unbeknownst to me until a cursory google just now, it seems that Sin Episodes (
http://www.freakygaming.com/gallery/game_art/sin_episodes/alexis_real_girl_model_cleavage) went down the same route. I did buy the first episode, but was never tempted back by what was on offer.

Yes, I'm sure that sort of thing did turn some folks off of the game. The same probably applied to Duke3D as well, but that game was a bit less obvious about it.
I thought some of the dialogue in SiN was even funnier than Duke though. For example, the basic enemies always say "Who are you supposed to be, Barney Miller?".
In the expansion pack, when an enemy dies, the main character sometimes says "I'm a regular Barney Miller". JC then replies "uh, boss... Barney Miller didn't blow people into chunks." I thought that was hilarious the first time I heard it.

Hey now, they were every bit as real as the rest of her.

Thing is, although the cinematics may have been slightly naughty, there was no cleavage in the actual game. I suspect this is because in 1998, anything like that would have been comprised of like 10 triangles.
I read in a review that they took that stuff a bit further in Sin Episodes, with a few suggestive cut-scenes that are rendered in-game.

Sin had working computers with DOS too. I even seem to recall being able to run a game on it.
