The opinion of someone who hasn't even played game isn't worth two shits. (To spell it out, YOUR OPINION UTTERLY LACKS CREDIBILITY.) Also you wouldn't know the first thing about game design, nor how to actually manage a project in the industry.
Also quit basing your conclusions on reviews of the fucking Xbox 360 version. It's been well established that the Xbox received a shoddy port from the PC original. Thus the technical features of the 360 port are not reliable evidence of how the game really is, in regards to technical implementation. Duke Nukem Forever was made for the PC platform, despite the post-Halo game design.
Okay, just to get things straight. Most people do not play games on a PC these days. Most gamers have switched to consoles and the XBOX has become _very_ popular. I repair PCs during the day. 99% of the systems I work on couldn't even run a game from 2005 due to crappy integrated graphics. This is why most of the reviews have been of the console version. I am not going out of my way to find console reviews. That is what most of them are, and for good reason.
As for game design, I know a few things.
*Over-simplification of game elements is bad, m'kay?
*Delivering a sequel with less features than its predecessor is also bad.
*Load times should never EVER be over thirty seconds when a player dies and restarts the map.
Somebody should petition GearBox to release the earlier versions of DNF so the community can develop them. I'm talking about the awesome looking version from 1998 and the pretty-cool 2001 version.

Okay, so I played it further- I figure I'm about 1/4ths of the way in.
Man, I dunno. If this game had come out 5 years ago it would've been awesome, but as it is, it feels too dated to be interesting, but not old-school enough to be fun. I don't hate it, and I was fully expecting it to be like this, but... ehhhh.
Performance is quite bad, too, I have regular hiccups.
The multiplayer is okay, though. sneaksie would have a fit if he tried it.

The graphics aint bad. They're about like Quake 4. The human models especially remind me of Q4 marines. If there are any space levels, how are they? Those were always my fav in DN3D.

The game feels like a bit like NOLF2 to me, and the beginning is funny, but I'm at the RC car bit and getting bored out of my mind already.

Yeah the problem for me is the problem all Doom3 engine games seem to have. There are only three, maybe four, enemies onscreen at a time. That's a problem if you're trying to make a classic mindless shooter.
Also, did anyone see the irony of Duke making fun of Halo yet ripping off all of its mechanics? *Sigh*

I dunno, other than the pacing being weird, I'm starting to have some fun with it. I definitely don't understand why people are so butthurt about the humor, other than the 'hot pocket' line I've been finding it pretty funny.

There aren't any unfortunately. I'm guessing they will appear in the 3rd DLC, assuming Gearbox go through with them, which apparently contains 15 single player levels. I would guess a large part of those would be the levels that were unfinished and cut just to get the game out the door as that design document that was leaked, and large portions of DNF follow it, contained some space stuff.

Most of the humor tends to be mildly funny, or so beyond bad that it goes right back into funny again. The hot pocket line was one of the latter.
Punching that guy behind the talk show was great, though, and I like that the game occasionally lets you make your own humor. That kid asking for an autograph? I signed it then wrote STAY IN SCHOOL.

I'm only a little over an hour in, but so far I'm having a hard time understanding where all the "Worst game ever" hate is coming from. Does it live up to a 14 year development cycle? Hell no. That said, it doesn't seem to be nearly as bad as the gaming pres is making it out to be.
Also, I'm playing on PC. My rig manages it on medium to high pretty well, and so far loading screens have yet to take longer than 10 seconds.

Didn't buy it, played the demo though.
I just saw gamespot's review. 3.5!? LOL. Holy shit that's low. Of course that's just their opinion, but still. LOL.

Care to explain that a bit?
