Excuse me for having a fucking opinion. Not like you guys don't go on and on about shit you don't like either.
Uh, then don't be appalled that somebody reacted to your opinion. It's how this whole forum thing works.

mr. hermit, I'm not sure you know how spoiler-warnings work.
sNeaksieGarrett on 15/6/2011 at 17:25
No, it's not that he reacted, it's that he acted like I was a stupid or "whiny" for having an opinion. That's all. One thing to disagree, it's another to insult me. Carry on.

Ok. Go do it. Right now. I'll even give you the same generous 14 years Duke took. Go ahead. Make a better game.
I am not joking. If you release a game in 14 years time that receives better reviews and sells more than Duke I will give you all of my life savings which, if my current rate keeps up, should be quite sizable in that time.
I'm waiting lost_soul.

If you post one line driveby insults, people say you are raging.
If you post paragraph long arguments, people say you are raging.

Lol - blacklisting reviewers for giving bad reviews? They're going to have to blacklist the whole industry for DNF. ...Apparently 2K has already fired whoever made that incriminating tweet.
Started playing. It's not as bad as they're saying. I'm running PC version on high (turned down from ultra), load times are maybe 5 seconds, which makes it a lot more bearable, I'm sure. The frequent changes of pace keep it from being boring, but I have to agree that the basic shooting is a bit too Doom 3-esque, the puzzles are inconsistent at best (albeit amusing), and the humour frequently falls flat.
I want to talk about the latter for a second. He's supposed to be cliche and over the top, but they mostly just went for cliche. Needs more over-the-top. Many (most? all? dunno) of his lines are literally just re-stating cliches. You're all out of gum? Yeah, heard it. Duke should've been the one blowing Life's house up with its own lemons.

Having just finished the game, I'm not sure why it's drawn so much ire. No, it's not a game worth waiting twelve years for, but it isn't bad by any means. The weapon selection is limited and there aren't too many enemy types, but it's reasonably polished, has plenty of variety in environments, and a bunch of puzzles (mostly platforming or physics-based) strewn throughout. Some bits of parody made me chuckle, nothing outrageously funny (although I did have a good laugh at the ending) but not cringe-inducingly bad as it could have been. The modern gameplay elements are mostly handled well, and Duke is still pretty tough, so not having to conserve health lets you play aggressively in a manner fitting the Duke himself. Overall it's a solid shooter, not great, but not terrible, and I have to wonder how many of the reviews are just jumping on the 'let's hate on this anticipated game' bandwagon.
