I read this and for some reason I just had to see it for myself.
You think that's bad, check out the censorship in Team Fortress 2: (

Somebody do me a favor and please let us know when there is a demo that mere mortals such as myself are allowed to play. I would still like to try this game, but i certainly wouldn't buy until the price goes way down.

Also have a piss and make microwave popcorn to recreate the INTERACTIVITY, as this is what makes the game so, so special.

Finished the game.
THIS took 14 years? Don't get me wrong, it's not a BAD game. It has some moments of brilliance here and there, and the interactivity is pretty neat. But overall, this seems like something that would take a modern developer a year to make, two at the most. The first couple levels are absolutely terrible, filled with some of the most bland set pieces and shooting sequences seen this decade. The game manages to pick up after 2-3 hours, and continues doing so (with the exception of the terrible driving segments) up until Hoover Dam, when it finally manages to retain some competence in the shooting department. It's excessively misogynistic (to the point where, in some places, it stops being funny and starts being offensive), features graphics that range from "OK" to "What's the Quake 2 engine doing here?", and has one of the most anticlimactic endings in recent history.
Overall, Duke Nukem Forever isn't terrible. But it isn't that good either. It's certainly not deserving of the "3/10" and "F" review scores it's been getting (if anything, that exposes how fucking pathetic gaming "journalists" are), but after this long in development there's no excuse for this level of quality. Hopefully Gearbox can do something with the license to clean up all this and give us a proper sequel to Duke 3D.
EDIT: A "Making Of" feature for this game would be amazing.

Ummm, no. The current incarnation was only in development ~2004/2005-2009. After Gearbox got a hold of it, they did some additional polishing, ported it to consoles and added MP.

So 3D Realms threw away everything before 2004?
