A good proportion of Looking Glass' output qualifies for that dumb rule.

Speaking of dumb, DNF is/seems to be really not good at all. I'll try to play it further, because I'm a masochist.

Only Thief, which is the exception I was talking about.

As a rule, it's retarded. I mean, I could bang on about time not being a factor of quality, but hey I think we just had a discussion about the metrics of 'quality' two seconds ago in TTLG time
As an observation, it's retarded. I mean, I could bang on about Ultima VII, Stalker, Half Life 2, etc. for all I'm worth, but 'good' depends on the observer. And the observer in Koki's case, is, of course, Koki. QED.

Unusually long development time means something is wrong with the project, otherwise it wouldn't have an unusually long development time. It might be lack of clear vision, it might be technical problems or the game changing studios or whatever - result is similar, not everything works well.

Very good examples proving my point, thanks

In 2011, how can 2 years be considered a long development time? Much shorter than that and I'd be more worried that the game was shovelled out as quickly as possible.
Sulphur on 10/6/2011 at 09:39
^^Koki: Why are you repeating what I just said in somebody else's words?
Also, like nicked says, please tell us how you've reached the conclusion that >2 years is 'unusually long' for developing any game on average.

Don't you know? If you take longer than 2 years, you're obviously wasting your time chugging beer and trying to hit on John Romero's wives instead of making a game.
Koki on 10/6/2011 at 10:15
Wait... Romero is a man?
