Is it just me or does the HRP completely ruin the charm of the game?

Still felt like the same game when I last played Duke v1.3D w/ eduke32 + HRP.

I can't accept playing Doom with polygonal model replacements though, high res textures is a different story though. Is jDoomsday/Snowball still buggy?
