Per-pixel lighting and the works for Duke3d! Now hopefully someone will re-light all of the levels to take advantage of it.
Eww, no thanks. The lighting is fine in the original levels, no need to turn it into Doom 3.

... you know, apply it to new maps designed especially for it and it'd be awesome.

You don't actually know what per-pixel lighting is, do you?

Funny... I hope to one day play through Lunar Apocalypse with poorly lit levels and a flashlight attached to the shotgun/chaingun/whatever weapon I use. Just be sure to re-arrange the monsters too, so it will be a surprise!
Oh yeah, and be sure to use plenty of Slimers! They're already scary, and I'll bet they'll be even more so after this is done!
A few months back, I played through Quake with Darkplaces and per-pixel lights and I was totally drawn into the game. It is more than just a graphical face lift: It changes the mood of the game dramatically IMO.

Fair point about Lunar Apocalypse, as it's pretty clear the designer was going for scary-game atmosphere as best he could. The other episodes aren't like that, though. Overall Duke isn't a scary game. Like dethtoll said, if put into user-made maps that can make excellent use of per-pixel lighting it would be great, but most of the original levels wouldn't see much benefit even from correct use of the feature, and if people overused it, it would do what I don't want to happen which is dramatically change the mood of the game. That's not saying I don't want per-pixel lighting to be a feature, I'm just not buying into it as the logical choice for upgrading the original levels.

Once again, I must point out that you apparently don't know what per-pixel-lighting is, as your comments about it make no goddam sense.

Will someone please add a "wtf'd" tag to this thread.

Calm down H2SO4, the thread was bumped by a spam bot (whose post has since been deleted).

I was referring to the tags themselves, Lilith.
