I'm guessing it uses one of the source ports floating around, since it offers the High Resolution Pack for it as well. Probably EDuke32.

I would think that the publisher is the one who makes those decisions, not the developer.
I don't think he disagrees w/you. I think he;s just hoping the publisher isn;t one of the big evil ones w/a penchant for DRM.

The saddest thing about this is that the DNF affair will also be the final nail in the design studio independence coffin.
Stardock says you're clueless.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I saw some footage of Duke3d for the Saturn and I was surprised. The lighting is much better than it was in the PC version. It isn't just strictly sector-based like the PC version always was. This means rockets will light up the area as they travel, and explosions will do the same. It appears there is also colored lighting in this manor too. I'm surprised the Saturn was capable of this, while the playstation version (apparently) was not?

The Saturn version doesn't run on the Build engine. They ported all the levels to the Slave Driver engine.(

I just e-mailed 3D Realms and asked them to release the 1998 content as unsupported freeware. I would be willing to still pay for it though. It does not make sense for this thing to just sit there on a shelf or be destroyed because it can't compete in today's market visually. I love the excessive use of lense flares. It makes the outdoor areas look pretty.
got a reply...
From Joe Siegler: "Nothing like that will be released."

lol
I once asked George Broussard about the prior content of the Duke Nukem Forevers and he said that it was total gibberish that would never see the light of day, for either of the earlier versions.
They updated their website finally with a goodbye post.

Mentioned this elsewhere, too: if you do still have fond memories of 3D Realms (or Apogee), I noticed about a week or so before the shutdown that they had released a few games as freeware. Some of them are ancient (as in, CGA graphics and DOSBox candidates), but some should instill fond memories, like Major Stryker, Kroz, and a few others. Might be your last chance to grab these before they're gone...again.
