Dumb topic, but... (the name Constantine) - by Aceyalone

...do you know that "constantine" exists as a name?
Well I know it has been used and in the movie "constantine" but it's a real name met mainly in the mediterrenean (hope I spelled correctly) of Italy and Greece. It was a Byzantine name and it is called "Constantinos".
"Constantine" is the English-versioned name of "Constantine" and many people nowadays (mostly in Greece) have this name as their first. And it's actually very common.
Still, I dont know if the original Thief makers knew about that, or just have heard the name somewhere and liked it :p

I will refrain from honestly answering since I'm being enough of a prick elsewhere right now. :)

A guy named Constantine Hantzopoulos worked at Looking Glass Studios when The Dark Project was being made, and got a Special Thanks credit. He was mainly working on Flight Unlimited II & III.
Just so you know, the Thief games have been picked completely apart, as well as the history of it's making, for the last ten years. So there's little trivia left.

No comment. By the way, it's Mediterranean.

Here in Bulgaria we have a name Constantine (Konstantin). It is moderately common and is indeed more common in our south neighbor Greece.

Constantine (The Great) is arguably the single most important figure after the year 0AD. He allowed Christianity to flourish which changed the course of Western Civilization forever.
(And Yandros, that statue is huge, I was there last month [it's at the Capitoline Museums in Rome]). :D

We've got Constantin here in Romania (without the "e" at the end) and there are a lot of names derived from it: Costel, Costica, Costi (all of them male names) tough lately it hasn't been used as much. (and yes they sound utterly weird in english :cheeky:)

I'm sure the historic Constantine was what they really had in mind, but I'm sure the LGS dude made the lightbulb go on.
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople!
