(
http://www.dungeon-party.com) -- just saw this posted on I think Blue's News, so I decided to check it out since I saw a key word 'Free'. Apparently this has been in beta testing for a while now and is now out of beta and released, as of yesterday.
Seems like a cool team-based strategy game, where puts you with teammates going against another team, trying to get the 'treasure' (at the same time making sure the other team doesn't get it) in the level (a dungeon). Funny part is that the treasure has a personality and feelings of its own and you have to earn it's "love" in order for you to score points (or something like that). Hilarious!
Mix that with spells you can purchase, and items/equipment that you can purchase -- interestingly enough, from their website, though I think with in-game currency, not real money from what I saw.
It's a mix of Evil Genius (on both the graphical and comical vibe) and the team-based cooperation of, dare I say it, FireTeam.
Definitely check it out, and let me know what you all think.

There seems to be some sort of twisted irony to the post above mine

I think MMORPG is the only genre which actually goes backwards. Ten years ago in Ultima Online you were not bound by classes, and the entire world was persistent. Nowodays it's all about locking people in the tank/dps/buff archetype and instances.

Blame Everquest for this. Every single class in that game had one specific role to fill, and sucked at everything beyond that. For instance, I played an Enchanter. My one job was to stop monsters and occasionally deal shitty damage. Also clarity. Fun, sure. But limited.

The recent attempts at shoehorning RTSes onto consoles say hi.
