I think the animations look pretty good, don't know about character design but that's just my taste. While I didn't enjoy and therefore play through any DS game completely I can't see myself getting that but it sure looks "tasty". And I sure do hope Obsidian gets a hit after the financial failure of Alpha Protocol (that I enjoyed very much)

I'd like to go to a university that actually makes their students produce such quality visuals.
AKA wtf are you on?

After reading (
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/01/28/still-not-a-dungeon-siege-iii/) RPS' hands-on preview, the game is certainly sounding far better than my expectations were up until now (which were low, considering that it's a sequel to a shitty Chris Taylor franchise). There seems to be an actual narrative and some character development, which is probably a first for a Diablo-alike - not being completely brain dead. All hail Obsidian!

(
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=282223) Recent interview with lead designer Nathaniel Chapman and muppet Chris Taylor.
The article suggests that Chris Taylor has had noticeable influence over the direction of development, which isn't a good sign TBH. I hope that Obsidian pull off a game as a excellent as their 2010 titles. But it's still Dungeon Siege - every Siege game to date has been a casual gamer aimed snoozefest, so hopefully it doesn't follow that legacy religiously.
Having a Diablo clone with a thoughtful narrative and story would be an amazing achievement. If anyone could pull that off it'd be Obsidian.

Only played five minutes of it so far, so I don't think I'm really able to judge just yet.
