No, I think most gamers would say Kotor2 was worse than Kotor, New Vegas was worse than Fallout 3, Alpha Protocol was worse than...I dunno, Mass Effect, NWN2 was worse than NWN, and Dungeon Siege III is worse than 1 and 2.
Of course, most gamers are also fucking idiots, so there you go. After Dragon Age 2 I think Obsidian are the only developer left on my "first day purchase" dev list. Well, them and Frictional, CD Projekt, and Irrational/2k Marin.

Despite what happened to Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3 is still a day-one purchase. I'll probably pre-order it over Steam though.
