Ah, clearly the thread that's now full of examples of great games that took over two years to make is too full to post in.

Whatever gives you an excuse to avoid the issue, bro.

I love him. It's the name I guess.

Obviously. After all, it's only been two years. Hardly enough time to make a single playable level.
I laughed.

This year was pretty underwhelming. We got more "teasers" for sequels that we all knew were coming. Old Republic is looking to be exactly like WoW. Ezio's career drags on beyond any reasonably sane amount of time, like butter spread over too much bread. Wii U doesn't look that interesting, and actually caused Nintendo's shares to flop. And...well....the majority of stuff on display was just sequels.
The most interesting news was that the Vita's actually gonna be a reasonable price and could even have some great games on it.
Overall, its just as well. The lackluster field coming up will make it easier for me to carry out my plans to cease all gaming next year. All my favorite series will be complete, and their sequels finished by that time. The only exception is whenever they release the last Thief installment.

Yeah nothing really excited me about this coming year either, except maybe the possibility for modding Rage depending on how moddable it is, since I've got some Doom3 experience now, which may not even be much help.
Then DeusEx3 & Thief4 of course. I'm still a slavish fan for those series I admit. Sad that those won't be moddable (will they?).
Also the news that came out about (
http://loot-ninja.com/2011/06/10/e3-2011-mirrors-edge-2-with-frostbite-2-0-could-happen/) Mirror's Edge 2 was promising.
The Wii-U stuff was interesting just for the move towards Augmented Reality, where you're pulling the game world more and more into the real world & space around you, and integrating the two. That's a track with a lot of potential down the road I think. I guess we'll see.

I think the team has stated that Deus Ex won't be out of the gate, but they're open to releasing the tools after.

Hey, why nobody told me Far Cry 3 is pretty cool? Niiice creepy vibes from that one. Bet they'll cut it all out by the time they enter beta.
Vernon on 19/6/2011 at 04:34
The Far Cry games have all been solid shooters so far, with really decent difficulty settings. 3 is looking pretty nice. As long as the stealth code is better than in the first two and they fix the shooting from the hip bullshit it should be another decent head stomp. :D
Also looking forward to Metro, especially if its off-rails this time derp

It's the same non-committal line they've been spinning for well over a year. There've been interviews with Riccitiello where he says almost word for word the exact same thing about 'actively looking for the right way to bring it back,' and it all adds up to 'EA understood Mirror's Edge even less than Eidos (allegedly) understood Thief.' The 'right way to bring it back' is to
make a fucking sequel to the first game, but, y'know, write the story BEFORE you make the levels this time.
