So many negatives in that 2nd pargaraph that I just cannot follow the meaning. Is he positive about those games? Is he cynical for no reason? I don't get. Ah fuck it, I need
Probably because a lot of the IP's people are still getting worked up about are very much played out. At this point studios are blatantly milking what business types call a "cash cow" product line.
Dishonored 2 being the obvious exception, since the first game made it obvious there's a lot of interesting stuff yet to be explored.

Your analogy is utterly obtuse. You don't derive sustenance to live from software. Props for not being cliched by trying to compare software to car ownership (P.S. those never work either).
Point missed entirely. Arguing that something is good because people subjectively like it is an utterly fallacious argument to make. Popularity doesn't make the Big Mac Good, nor the IPhone the best smartphone on the market, nor does it make crappy movie games good, nor does it make endless Marvel movies good cinema, anymore than popularity makes the mass market game sequels you're defending good games.

I swear that Henke is probably one of the last few people here who actually seems to like playing games.
I love playing games. E3 really has nothing to do with that though. It's a big commercial for vidiots.

And let's not confuse being critical of games with not enjoying them. There's nothing wrong with expecting more or better, and talking about that. You're free to disagree if you feel the argument is less than reasonable or cogent. If someone were complaining about the latest FPS being too FPS-y and didn't have enough adventure gaming elements in it, I'd probably go, 'wut?' myself, too.
E3 itself is a tiring circuit of PR and advertising; the only thing I look forward to at E3 is the new video game announcements. It's how I got to learn when I'll be getting a PS4. (Hello, The Last Guardian.)

Everything that you mentioned is "measured" by 100% subjective opinion, thus it can't be actually be measured.

I like playing (not as much as Henke though, that guy is something else) games. I like the E3 vids too, but devoid of commentary or the cringe-inducing crowd response.
Just the games.

I'm not trying to defend Tony here or be pedantic, but there are definitely a lot of objective aspects to all of the things listed (i.e. specs of iPhone vs specs of other smart phones, quality of ingredients used in the food, etc). Whether you personally prefer those things as a whole to other things is subjective, sure, but you can objectively say that other things are better than those things in certain ways.

'Boring people who are sick of good games' – is that a real group? Someone has way too much time on their hands (and peculiar anger management issues).
I'd say I'm in a group of (boring!) people who are bored of being sold the same game over and over again. I don't understand people who get excited over incremental changes in each safe sequel of given franchise (AC and Ubisoft games in particular).
And I want media to play its part, being a buffer between general public and corporate, government and any other type of 'body' that is known to misinform in order to generate favorable response. They are to check stuff and call bs when need be, so we don't have to make extensive research and stupid choices. Or, you know, so we can make them anyway, but at least knowing it's stupid. Otherwise, media are as useful to us as chipmunks on cocaine. If only they were half as funny...
Jason Moyer on 29/6/2015 at 17:09
In Ubisoft's case, you could argue those incremental changes aren't always improvements either. Splinter cell peaked with 3, Far Cry with 2, AC (apparently) with 4.

NOPE!
Splinter Cell Conviction
Far Cry 3
Assassin's Creed 3
FACT: this is what I think
