The problem with biking to and fro is that when I get to where I'm going all the sweat comes out, and it takes about 15 minutes before it completely stops. I'm also treated to a lovely sweat line where my bag's strap crosses my shoulder.

So has anyone played Mercenaries 2 yet? I thought it looked kinda fun but reviewers are generaly going "meeeeeh" over it. I just got a X-Box Live Gold Account and I'm looking from something with good multiplayer action. So far the only game with great MP I have is GTA4. If someone could reccomend some older(cheaper) games with strong MP communities I'd be thankful.

Apparently Shadowrun still has a dedicated community. It had underwhelming sales but like I say it's a small but dedicated fanbase. It was a good game as well, but I got rid of it a while ago so I can't say first hand what the current player base is like.
Lost Planet was probably my favourite XBL multiplayer game, I think there was a new edition released recently so it's probably still got people playing.
COD4 is still the reigning XBL king, and well-deserved too.

Unfortunately I have an inner ear problem and biking is out of the question for me, or I'd bike everywhere.

Yeah, I think GameSpot actually gave it a freaking
5!!! The highest I saw on a site was a 7.5. Very strange considering how AWESOME and polished the first game was. I was really, really looking forward to this game, and I never, EVER get hyped for new releases anymore. Because of crap like this. :( I should have known. Every time I do that, it ends up being meh/10.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 - a fairly popular game, likely a bigger community than the PC version.
The usuals:- Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War.
Lost Planet: Colonies Edition offers cross-platform play. I'm not sure if they've gimped the mouse+KB support like they did with Shadowrun though.
All cross-platform MP games are currently free-to-play on the Xbox end.

Rainbow Six: Vegas, CoD2 & Shadowrun demos added to my download queue. I saw Shadowrun, R6:V1&2 & CoD3 recently in the 2nd hand section at the local gamestore, so they're potential purchases.
I tried the Lost Planet demo a while back and thought it was kinda meeeh, but I haven't tried the MP in it.

I think you mean the PC end. You still need a gold Xbox LIVE account for playing any game multiplayer. Games for Windows LIVE (cross-platform included) went free for everyone shortly after E3.

No, I meant the Xbox end. Its cross-platform games are free for Xbox Live Silver users until MS have reworked the infrastructure in a future update.
