There's a difference between "no perfect track record" and "We're not even going to try and fix bugs in our games other than core/engine ones".
Technically, there isn't. Either a thing is perfect or it is imperfect: there is no in-between.

I was never much of a fan of EA (well I was reaaally early on, like back in the days of The Bard's Tale). Rumors of their predatory practices and loathing within the industry itself, their snub of SS3, their endless, mindless sports franchises, plus the DRM stuff etc, etc, makes me not particularly like them. But they also put out Mirror's Edge and Dead Space in recent history too, so they can't seriously be the worst for me.
Also not even worst game company, but worst company period?... In a field with Halliburton, Goldman Sachs (cf the bombshell editorial last month), Unocal (slave labor in Burma), Shell & BP, Citibank, Tokyo Electric (whose nuclear power plant blew its top and they lied about the damage for months)... Yeah DRM sucks but they're not dumping billions of gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, posting memos on how to best screw over their clients, hiring slave labor in Asia, or mucking up the infrastructure of an entire nation (Halliburton in Iraq) for transparently cynical political reasons, or like some Japanese zaibatsu that are hosting huge orgy parties and hiring 500 prostitutes, and don't get me started on Tokyo Electric. Priorities, people.
Edit: I still laughed hard at that article though. Yeah, gay-bashing is *exactly* why the public is going after EA, sure.

While the latter is true, it certainly does not imply that there is no difference between various degrees of imperfection.

I'm with Demagogue. Goldman Sachs should be worst company in America.
However, EA is certainly a contender for worst gaming company in light of recent events. While they were starting to improve for a while they've now started to revert to their old evil selves.

I believe we've got a Witch Foxhunt on our hands, people!

Okay, Renzatic, I just have to say that's about the fourth or so post by you that made me laugh out loud in the last few days. Thanks for lighting up my day, repeatedly (no sarcasm meant)!
As for EA getting voted Worst Company, even though there are other companies clearly Even Worse, I guess EA's dick moves resonate more directly with people. That, and we gamers are just a bunch of demanding sissies with a megalomaniacal sense of entitlement.

I'm entitled to a good game for $60, yes.
Not one full of cut corners and shit endings.
