Activision or Ubisoft are easily more deserving of that "award" than EA. (Not that I think EA execs deserve a pat on the back.)
Though if they'd awarded it as "worst game company in America" I'd take it a little more seriously. Worst company, period? Heh. :p

Monsanto, Syngenta and similar companies exist, and the poll is between Bank of America and EA? How bad are people's priorities? Christ. Apple abuses workers in China and they're considered a far better company than one who puts out half-assed video games and overcharges for them? Is this a joke?

By "Apple", I believe you mean "Foxconn".

I thought China abused workers in China.
At least according to western definition of worker abuse

(
http://www.destructoid.com/ea-voted-worst-american-company-in-2013-251156.phtml) It freaking happened again.
(
http://www.destructoid.com/ea-will-do-better-to-not-be-the-worst-company-ever-250895.phtml) And Peter Moore dragged out the "y'all are just homophobes" argument again too.
This is fucking
embarrassing. I'm utterly gobsmacked that nothing has been learned from last year. It's just... wow, really guys?
Really?
EA makes
video games, people.
Entertainment. Yes, video games are serious business, certainly to me as well as a lot of other people -- but only on a cultural level. What about companies that damage an entire country's infrastructure for cynically political reasons, like Haliburton? What about companies that fleece their clients (and gloat about it) while running the economy into the ground, like Goldman Sachs? What about companies that cause major ecological disasters and try to cover it up or shift blame, like BP? Companies like these have a huge effect on your wallet, your nation's reputation, and the environment you live in. EA has an effect on how you spend your weekend.
jesus titty cock it's fucking incredible how short-sighted and entitled we've become as a society.

I think you're putting a bit too much importance on an internet poll that has been lucky enough to tap into the extremely easily bated gamer audience. If anything people seem to be most interested in using it to shame EA a bit. And it works, their reactions are a goldmine.
Believe me, people should be concerned about these horrible corporations which have so much say in our lives, whether we like it or not, but the reality is, the people who actively vote in this poll now that EA's been featured (and, likely will continue to be featured due to the number of hits the Consumerists' been raking in - at least, until they change) will likely continue to. I dunno, maybe it's a good opportunity to enlighten them to some of the names they've heard buzzing around the news networks in passing.
But as it is, I think you're concerning yourself over a rather small thing. You gotta look at the kind of people who would hop onto a poll like this. People with a decent amount of free time and want to get in on that sweet spanking we're offering EA. Young folks, y'know? Also entitled? Eesh, c'mon that's become such a buzzword. I think most folks don't even have a clue what it means any more.

Yeah it's homophobes and box art debate.
Not things like ME3 and SimCity being a mess.
