You're entitled to get what you pay for.
I never said I paid for it.

Not bizarre at all. People keep buying shitty McDonald's food, and keep watching movies from studios with a reputation for crappy. A lot of people say the same thing about the Harley brand. It can happen in any market where the conditions exist to create an irrational brand loyalty. For games, most people's judgement of them resembles Beavis and Butthead discussing a music video. The sales will generally go to the best MARKETER, not the best product.
True, but McDonalds is cheap and studies will show that the poorer working classes tend to eat crappy junk food, probably because its affordable. Though I do agree that marketing plays a hell of a lot into it; the product doesn't differ that much between the companies so marketing is likely more important for them than increasing quality.
Its still true that good high quality food, or any other product, costs more. It found it interesting since in the past some of our own more well off members found it groovy to high-five each other whilst looking down on the poorer masses dietary habits. I don't think they realised they were being more than a little ignorant and snobbish.
As for the other stuff, movies and the like. They all cost roughly the same to the consumer so marketing would have more of an impact, since it isn't cost that attracts masses to see a film, its the blanket/targeted advertising and showing the best bits of a film, some of which aren't even in the final cut.

True, but the end result is the same: since no individual game or meal is a big investment people often' don't care that much about the highest quality.

The members in question just don't give a damn if they're being snobbish, and it's clearly not possible that they're ignorant because they got better off by being better than you.

I reckon £40/$60 is a reasonable investment, particularly for younger folk. Considering that large numbers of games consumers will moan about the product they've purchased, this should influence their decision to do so again from the same publisher/developer, but they continue to do so.
Ah, I think I get your point. The marketing of games will, in effect, counter a persons own intuition/judgement and since £40 won't bankrupt them, they'll take a shot? (just coming off a 48 hour project grind, not thinking so well)

It's kinda stupid to equate games with food anyway.
You don't start eating one third of an epic sandwich, and then wait for a year for the next amazing sandwich installment, just to find that they've taken the mayo out and replaced it with PVA glue...but you eat it anyway because if you don't you won't be able to eat the last third, and you NEED TO KNOW HOW THE SANDWICH ENDS
(hint: the last sandwich is amazing, but there's a turd stuck to the end)

Also the ham is replaced with a stock photo of a turkey.

No take-out. All sandwiches must be eaten inside the restaurant.

Equating games with food is stupid, but it's fun.
ME3 is like having a great three course meal, then getting home and being violently ill. The restaurant doesn't give you a refund but they later offer more of an explanation into how the food was prepared.
Sim City is like a banquet in North Korea. You're promised a feast and you end up with seven courses of grey matter; half way through the meal the lights go off and you're given no explanation and told that everything is fine. You are not allowed to finish your meal, but are told, "why not start a new one?"
