I didn't go to college either so I had no difficulty figuring out what it said. The workers are over-worked and the promises of the managers that things are about to ease up go unfulfilled while bonuses are being cut and salaries do no rise as they should. Ergo, things is fucked up ok?
Sorry if that came across as insulting. I get the general gist of the letter, but if these people are trying to take a stand against the eeeeeevil Rockstar and their work policy, and if they have a significant number of people, it really can't be that difficult to find an editor (No English majors among them?) and avoid such phrases as
Quote:
The turning for the worse came
Quote:
Till present, the working conditions persists to deteriorate as employees are manipulated by certain hands that wield the reigns of power in Rockstar San Diego.
Quote:
Though it is presumed, this unfortunate circumstance is due largely to ignorance and unawareness of most, with enlightened knowledge, action must be taken to protect the rights of employees and those who depend on them.
Quote:
These will not be ameliorated with a full time masseuse and will only worsen if no change to improve conditions take place and managers continue with their dishonesty of deadlines.
Quote:
That of even any effort to retain any health still owned by the employee by seeking medical attention on a Saturday, because on Sundays most medical offices are closed, they must call in sick.
Quote:
Furthermore, not only is it not received with sympathy and understanding rather the must endure an attitude presented to them that they pose a hindrance!
If they want to convey any more than your summary, it has to be readable.

Hmmm.
I too understand every single thing that is being said there.
Maybe you were trying to be insulting? Yes, I think I "understand" that too. You were trying to be insulting!
And then your backtracking as well - I think I understand that too! You were (momentarily) shamed.
Now see if you can stop it for real; and stop playing like you can't tell "what the fuck the letter is trying to say"?
Or keep own ridin' that high horse, gitye some gunz n ber like that other fella, eh... Pardner?

If you really see no difference between this grammatical train wreck and a decently-worded complaint (like, hell, the original EA Spouse story), then I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you. I find myself reading sentences two or three times to figure out just what it's trying to say, because it's awkward, ambiguous, and peppered with random 'smart'-sounding phrases when a more simple and direct approach would work fine. I can read Shakespeare with less difficulty than this. Jesus christ.

That's the difference, twixt you and I, "Pard"... I do know what is wrong with you.

It's (very) poorly written, yes, but it's not unreadable. If you absolutely cannot comprehend what the letter is trying to say, well... sounds like you've got bigger problems.
Ulukai on 11/1/2010 at 18:19
It reads very badly, that's for sure.
catbarf on 11/1/2010 at 18:20
Unreadable, no, but ambiguity and awkwardness are easily avoided with even a modicum of editing.
Edit: And it's a damn shame too. I sympathize with them, as we've all heard the story before- programmer works for gaming company, programmer is overworked, programmer becomes an uncompensated emotional wreck. It hits close to home as in five years I may well be one of them. But a lot of the impact and emotion evaporates when it's difficult to understand.

And a modicum of college, right?
teehee titter titter
EDIT: That's better, "catbarf". Shame... sympathy... I see how you work. It'd be a damn shame to have to shame you again; but it's so "fucking easy to understand" how it all works, if necessary.
