Hi all! :cheeky:
I wanted to know, is there a way to modify the running speed? :erg:
I've finished the game at least twenty times, but now i'm on some fan missions, and some have... Gigantic maps and it would be fantastic if i could run faster... Especially when I learn that the last objective was actually at the beginning of the map... :grr:
I thought about modifying the file cam.cfg, dark.cfg or user.cfg but didn't found anything...
Neither on google...
Thank you for answering me. =)
Edit : I forgot, that's for Thief 2, of course. :cheeky:

While you can't modify the running speed there is one thing that you can modify quite easily. :) Your patience. Take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy the missions for what they are. Don't dip into the cheats basket.

Hold the strafe right or strafe left key down while you run, this way you can run about 10% faster.

Sorry, but I was afraid of this kind of answers...
I have patience, but for some fan made maps, it's not enough.
Plus you should have think I have probably not much enough time to be just sitting on a chair, my finger on the walking key, waiting to arrive to the other side of the map.
I don't mind searching in all the map, as long as i have something to search, and not just walk. :erg:
So sorry, but i'm kinda sick of people like you who think they know best what is better for the others...
You were not helpful at all, and that's a shame i would say. =/

Thank you Haplo, i've seen that, that helps, but I would like to do it without strafing. =p
I'll keep searching.

Turn off Vsync, raise the refresh rate of your display to 100-120 Hz (if it's capable of that) and the game will run much faster.
While in Dromed, you can use scale_player_speed n command. Note that with increased speed, you'll receive damage when you bump into walls (with scale_player_speed 5 every wall will be Wall Of Doom :ebil:).

Thank you Dj Riff, I saw it's hard to use Dromed AND play fan Missions, but your command line made me fine this :
(

"Note that it is possible to "scale_player_speed"."
Talking about Thief 2
(

Example of a user.bnd file with scale_player_speed command.
But I think that file is for Dromed only (With the command to show polygons).
And it does not work for me for now...
But I think i'm getting closer... =p

Sorry, I thought the smiley would have indicated that I wasn't being mean, or entirely serious. Clearly not. :p
So just because I wasn't able to tell you what you wanted to hear, I'm a bad person and unhelpful? I was attempting to be helpful by telling you it wasn't possible to change the running speed with a special file or code. I answered your question truthfully....and with a little Thief guru advice. ;) Don't take life so seriously man. I was joking.

Pliz don't try to justify yourself.
"So just because I wasn't able to tell you what you wanted to hear, I'm a bad person and unhelpful?"
1) Never said Bad. Stop lying.
2) Unhelpful? Yes, that's the meaning of the word. You said something useless.
"Sorry, I thought the smiley would have indicated that I wasn't being mean, or entirely serious. Clearly not. "
Aw cm'on, we both know that's not true. A guy who would have wanted to joke wouldn't wrote three sentences/half of his answer for something "not serious".
And all that stuff of "Enjoy the missions for what they are"... That's not something...Funny. Just not funny. it's just something you truly believed in when you typed it.
Anyway I'll try to use Dromed to modify the FM files. Maybe I'll be able to save them with the speed modified. 2 sounds good.
Thank you very much DJ riff. :thumb:

I wasn't lying, but that's fine. I
am sorry you were offended. It wasn't my intent. :( It's easy enough to misinterpret intent on the internet.
