I really have no ideas that can't just be summed up as hoping EM can provide merchandise covering the whole series. The cool LGS and ISA in-house posters and team shirts would be excellent, as well as Digi's suggestion for the earliest, and therefore, rare promo title images.
Awesome stained-glass textures from the first two games, or new designs in the same style, covering the whole chest or back would be cool, I think. Faction symbols, single, double, and triple combos, so fans can choose their favorite factions. An all-over Glyphs print. Main characters in all their glory, one featured per T-shirt. A humorous Benny T-shirt showing our affection for the character. A Stephen Russell tribute. Glyph or symbol mugs. Stationary pads. Journals that look like old Keeper books. Glowing 'shroom nightlights. The EYE action figure.:p
The Eye as a floating spinning magnet display (over a bug metal hammer altar!). Okay that's asking WAAAAYYY too much.

I would be in design heaven!

Nice to see positive feedback on the merch contest idea. I still think it's sound, but it does need some ironing out. How could it be implemented in practice? Has something similar been tried before by other companies (and in other IP industries - films, music, comics, whatever)?
Since we have only the material from previous games to work from, the acquisition/licensing of any required DX 1/2 and Thief 1/2/3 immaterial rights from Eidos centrally (depending on how that subsidiary thingy is organized) would probably still need to be in order. Ergo, we return to the question of having items promoting earlier titles for sale in the shop.
Releasing graphics/font packs for use in a contest could help spark quality submissions in the direction desired by EM branding-wise, but I fear this would
* effectively lock out a lot of great ideas from people who hesitate to open even MSPaint,
* delay the contest realization - I'd want to get this up and running ASAP, if I were EM,
* possibly in the end have a limiting effect on the imagination.
So what would be required to enter such a contest? Would it be enough to do as Blue Sky here, for instance? What more would really be neccessary, other than a marvellous idea:

Yeahl, those wallpapers would translate into shirts. Love the Keeper one.
"Oldskool" Thief 1 and 2 shirts would be very nice.
I didn't buy the Thi4f shirt afterall after I saw the packaging price! Lower it and you have a deal for the black one Rene.
