The single thing that makes me want to play this is finally being able to visit some of the interesting fucking provinces in Tamriel. The thought of visiting Black Marsh/Elsewyr/Valenwood/Summerset might be enough to get me to give a trial account a go, if such a thing is possible when it comes out.

since action doesn't exactly meld well with Massively-multiplayer anything.
That's just due to what has been standard, planetside 2 is coming up soon, and that's massively multiplayer fps, also I recall darkfall, while not being fantastic had realtime combat.

And can you really start every new player character off in prison without making it completely ridiculous?
Everyone in TES:online is supposedly with the same fate, having their soul stolen and thus cannot die.

Just.....seems really likely they'd need to ditch everything but the lore. And that would be strangely restrictive, I think - after all, the Elder Scrolls themselves are crazy-protected, so not everyone can get one. At which point you've got an Elder Scrolls game that doesn't have any Elder Scrolls in it.
That' not the problem at all, they're even going to bypass lore by giving the players the ability to name the emperor.
But then again, it seems TES:online development is lead by a team that would rather making dark age of camelot rather than a true TES:online, I doubt we'll even get item-interaction even though ultima online had it way back in the days.
prepare for "DO YOU WANT TO DELETE THIS ITEM?" when trying to drop it on the ground.

Just remember to level up, one of those might be a 55-60 zone.

Shit's going to crash and burn once people figure out it's nothing like Skyrim.

Koki, you'd make a great politician - all within about 10 posts.
All it takes is one thing to ruin a balance of the game, and Skyrim has a few. But I'm just saying these are easily fixed, it's just Berkth doesn't give a damn.

I am so over MMOs. And yet everyone keeps making them. Everyone is trying so hard to get a piece of Warcraft's cash cow without realizing that it's just not going to happen.
At best you'll see a large start and some money being made there, but it goes away very quickly as MMO fans either head back to WoW or just quit altogether. Warcraft isn't successful at this point because it's good, it's successful because it's a snowball rolling downhill. Kind of like how America could turn into soviet Russia but most people would still stay in the US - it's too much work to start over somewhere else, your friends and family are all here, and there are all the nostalgic memories. Warcraft doesn't have to be good anymore, because they were good long enough that a massive playerbase took up roots.
So when I see a new MMO I just groan. I check new release lists every week, and every week half of the "major releases" are new MMOs. Woooo, 538349 new games that are specifically designed like a crack addiction, leading you on with limited content and requiring a massive time investment because they are banking on you paying to play for the long term.
I'd rather have the development time spent on a single player game, with 40 hours of hilarious fun, than an MMO with 4000 hours of "I can't tell if I'm working or if I'm enjoying myself."

Yes that is quite inconsiderate of them
