First I've heard of it. I know they have committed to releasing significant free content updates in the months after release. They had a planned schedule up somewhere but I can't find it now, because it was probably in the beta forum.
Brad Wardell has put up an (

I love how he implies that RPS were cunningly trying to lie to their readership.

I persevered with it last night, and it's starting to fall into place. Although I had to knock the amount of opponents down to one "friendly" one to keep from getting bum-rushed early on in the game.
I think it's got a lot of potential, but it really is very rough around the edges.

Which is the problem, it is an unfinished game, and before anyone says that it's all there and playable!, the last months in development is about polishing the hell out if it, balancing what's there, removing the bugs, and making the unfun stuff fun again.
This part is missing.
but yes, potential is there, I'm just not sure if I want to support that behavior a second time around.

I love how they suddenly removed the Gamer's Bill of Rights from the Stardock site. Especially since #2 reads:
“2. Gamers shall have the right to demand that games be released in a finished state.”

I love how the gamer's bill of rights has it's own web site now.
Haven't read Brad's response, had little interest in EWoM in any case etc etc but the RPS article was pretty shitty. At least Tom Francis had actually played the game.

(
http://www.unamommer.com/?p=109) Could this - quite possibly - be the best, and greatest, and most entertaining something about Elemental?

And Urdoth the Undying, his long flaxen hair waving in the wind, smote down the barbaric hordes. One. Two. Three times, he flashed his sword in the air, like quicksilver flagellating the wind. The horde howled one, two, three times.
And then he speared into their midst, racing and slashing and slicing at the leathered brutes, snapping shoulder straps and stepping on sandals and unjockeying riders from their mounts. The groaning and the howling of the unmanned barbarians, lying across the desert, unable to run for they had no footwear with which to run, unable to face him for there was nothing with which to fasten their leather breast plates if they stood, and their horses had pranced away free from the shackles of their owners - the ungrateful things! - was the pure and sweet sound of distilled despair to his ears.
He sheathed his sword in his jewelled scabbard - encrusted with rubies, and sapphires, and chestnuts, and pearls, and hemp glass beads, laced in a web of intricate gold and silver filigree - his hair whipping about his shoulders, and surveyed his handiwork.
Yes. This would do. He hoisted three of the horde onto his shoulders and made for the castle, his guard following with the rest of the prisoners in his wake. There would be much revelry and cavorting and undoing and redoing of fine lace hosiery tonight.

just got an email from stardock
"your purchase includes a year's free updates"
wtf? why only a year?
and doesn't that favour people who buy late rather than on release? this could be headed for fiasco status
