THere is no way around the water, but you will find some water potions down there that will make it very easy.:ebil:

I've managed to complete Elevator on Expert. It took me the better part of a day, but I did it. In the underwater section, there are 5 breath potions in a wooden chest, but I can't figure out what to do with the other chest. Perhaps a key found a little later (see below...) might open it. Don't know.
At the very end, at the green slantwise elevator, there's a key at the BOTTOM (the sage key), and the keeper and a note at the top. The mission didn't actually end until I got the sage key.

Congratulations, w_hairst.:) I failed to find those breath potions on Expert, the first time I played it, but I did find them when I replayed on Hard. I was told on good authority that the breath potions are missing in Expert, so I have been telling people that "fact" without checking it myself (it is a long haul to check it). Thanks for setting the record straight! I'll have to revise my story now. Maybe I'll play it again just for good measure. I think it is an excellent mission.
Is the wood chest in the same place in Hard and Expert?
In Hard it is floating in the water in the main water cave, about midway between floor and ceiling as I recall, a little to the left of the center as you enter the cave. It is hard to see unless you are right on top of it.
Damn; if you really can finish it on expert then I guess I'm in for another six hours unless I can find an old save. There's no way I'm leaving it unfinished.
Perhaps we can start speed-running it or something.

Damn haunts got some hard noggins in this mission! I BJ'd a red haunt 50 times from the safety of an elevator platform before he went down and just now,
a black haunt withstood 99 whacks from my BJ before number 100 put him horizontal which opened a double door.
Well, back to the mission! Playin' on the hardest level. Maybe that's why the haunts skulls are so hard to crack.

GOOD!! That mission's out of the way and checked off. I had to backtrack all the way back to the "hand of glory" because
I failed to retrieve it from it's little nook. I thought it was empty when I first looked in it because I crouched before pressing my "use" key and got nothing, plus I couldn't see anything in there either. This time I caught a glimpse of the hand and retrieved it while standing in front of the small compartment, which ended the mission for me.
At 2555 loot, it appears I missed some, but I AIN'T goin' back. 'Too many other FM's to play and I haven't even touched any Thief 2 FM's yet.
I damn near scratched a hole in my head with this mission. Good thing this forum is here to provide free unlimited consultations!:thumb:

Just found this thread, looks like I need to go hunting..... but with all the questions about it, I have a readymade FAQ for all the problems I'm going to have

What is the exact name for this FM. I haven't downloaded it yet and looking around Thief Underground for something called Elevator.
DreamWalker on 14/5/2003 at 05:36
clock, neither Thief Underground nor Apache's site carry Elevator Mission. I've just sent you a copy of the eleva.zip. It's 5.57M ... hopefully, you have something like Outlook Express to accept files of this size (Outlook can't do it unless specially configured to do so).

Thanks Dreamwalker....my e-mail address is with yahoo.com and I haven't got the file you asked for as of yet. I'll wait until the morning to see if it gets here. If it doesn't make it, then I guess I'm out of luck.
Are you the author of this FM ?
