Just FYI, I have decided to take on a big project for myself by translating the Japanese FMs' readables into English. It may still be a little longer before I can get started when I have more free time, but I think it'd be a fun project for myself that would help open these quirky FMs (and their authors) to a little better reception around here. Wish me luck.
That would be a worthwhile project. FYI, many of the texts in the English versions of JIS' missions are simply missing, which he did to avoid confusion. In elevator, for example, V1 had some poorly written hints that could be deciphered. In V2 they are all wiped clean. I think the books texts are not even incluced in the zip, which stated to be for English only. Send me a PM or an e-mail, and I can put you in touch with JIS, who may be willing to hook you up with the Japanese version. It is possible even that there are some objects (books) missing in the English versions.

ok, thanks for letting me know. I'll get back to you on that. You can go ahead and tell him now that I'm interested in translating for him if you want, and you can find my email in my profile if he wants to talk to me ... but it probably won't be for a little while yet, anyway.
Fortunately, most other Japanese FMs have kept their readables.
The area with the pedistal is correct. Only when I operate the pedistal only the door behind the barred gate opens. How do you operate the barred gate. All of the haunts are dispatched. I need a key for the lock behind the painting in the beginning of the haunt area. I assume its behind the door which is behind the barred gate.
Ah, yes! There is a hidden switch. That caused me a lot of trouble a few years back before I found it, but now it is so ingrained in my memory, so routine, that I had forgotten what it was actually used for!:wot: So I went back and verified it.
The switch that opens the metal grate is located in the small "office" above the chapel, to the right of the small table that has the candle on it.
You cannot see it unless you go out of your way.
It is a blind frob in most cases.
You are correct about the key. This is a bad sign. You are starting to think like JIS.:)

I have only the sword objective ticked and
I've thrown the jumper switch behind the double doors at the beginning of the haunt section. All that happend is an alarm sounds but no gate or door opened and I'm trapped in the haunt section. Is this the last thing your supposed to do in the mission.
As it has taken 3 hours + in saved game time just to get to this stage.

I finally found relief for this hair pulling mission:
In the beginning of this mission when you take the elevator all the way down from the kitchen; the room where there is a guard and an archer and 3 switches... the door frame is made of wood!! If you knock out the guard and position yourself so the door frame is between you and the archer, he will stick arrows in the door frame for you to grab until you get tired of it :) I have 300 arrows now and going to tackle this mission!!
Lots of arrows helped:) made it to the end, have all objectives and I see the end.. but..
the door with the "X" over it is closed and I do not see the switch to open it. Also there is a blue chest which is locked near the end and I cant pick it, nor do I have a key for it. Any suggestions?
:laff: Thats a good one and may save pepole some serious headachs. But I feel you may be robbing your self of the challenge. Seems to me more of a bug than stragety. Mabey there should be a nice healthy haunt there insted of an archer.

I already went through it once without the extra help... I was ready to give up until I got all the arrows. Trust me, the arrows were not the greatest help. To kill each guard it took 10-15 arrows. But at least I quit pulling out my hair:)

The way to open the entry door to the Haunts area, when inside and going out, is:
bear right, past the two haunt stations near the entrance, and find a corridor with four wood doors. A burrick sounding guy patrols there. The first door on your right leads to an apparition. Kill him if you like. Find a button on the wall and press it. Then go across the hall to the first room on the left. Find a painting moved aside, revealing a switch.
A unnecessary cheat is to
drop three bodies on the floor switch before entering.
