I must be stupid :erm: You mean where the large globe is sitting on a table in the center of the room? or do you mean the room with the teddy bear..?
I've been upstairs where the teddy bear is, but the chest up there contained an invisibility potion only

I found a key to an open space - but have no idea where it fits so far - it doesn't fit any of the three cog wheel locks I've found so far...
But I'll think I'll try to find the rope arrows first...

I think I understand the source of our confusion. You are in a completely separate part of the mission! There are two churches. I am referring to the second one you encounter.
The second one is found eventually (after a long, circuitous route) after you enter a locked door on the uppermost level of the open brick courtyard. You get to this courtyard before you reach the first church. You need to take an elevator to get up to the top level, and you need to find a key for the door.
You do not need the ropes until you get into the second church.
The first church less than half way through the mission, maybe 30%.

oh yes, I know where that door is - I even thought I had found the key for it :cheeky: but no... Thanks for sparing me a lot of time running around looking for something that's not there!
I started looking for help for that closed door down in the basement mentioned in my first post, then found everybody was looking for rope arrows so thought I better find them first! :laff:
Off I go and try to find where my cog wheel fits.
Thanks smithpd!
I HAD found the key for that door - the first time I tried it it didn't fit! I went back to show hubby what kind of lock the cog wheel fits, and it opened.. :weird:
Anyways, making progress! :thumb:

It has been noticed that all the cog locks in this mission pack require two attempts.

I checked it out and all that's behind the painting is an on/off switch that's currently in the on position in my quicksave at the end of the mission. I switched it to off but didn't determine what it did, if anything. Did it close a door that I'd previously opened with another switch? Or did it open a door I couldn't open yet? Dunno. Anyhow, it's not the engineer's letter.
I also checked that one metal door I couldn't open across the hall from a metal door leading to a well down which is the square-toothed lockpick. It's an elevator shaft but with no elevator. JIS must have disabled it. It just goes down to the square-toothed lockpick area anyhow. An alternative to the well, I guess.
[Edit]
I've investigated further and have discovered what this on/off switch behind the painting does. It corresponds to the pressure plate in front of the inner doors of the "Hell" area. "On"=pressure plate depressed, doors open. "Off"=pressure plate extended, doors closed. This would be a method of egress from this building if you did not place a body or something on this pressure plate when you entered. Otherwise you could trap yourself in this area as those sliding doors effectively seal off and isolate this section of the mission.
Still nothing on the Optional Engineer's Letter Objective.[/Edit]

Has anyone gotten very far in mission 3? We seem to be stuck near the beginning. We have wandered up and down elevators, KO'd everone after we passed the keepers, and find nothing but locked doors that won't pick.

I've finally made it to factory level and now I'm stuck. I've made it to a big room piled high with crates, an overhead walkway, and some bots. I made my way up to the walkway and followed it to a few rooms. One of the rooms had a guard inside and a switch on the floor. I have no idea what that switch did once it was flipped and I've tried backtracking but haven't found any doors that were previously closed open. Any ideas on what that switch opened or what to do next?
Nevermind, I found out what to do next :cheeky:

Just a couple of questions.....
1. Opened the door, threw the switch and ran like hell. Can't find any door that
opened when I threw the switch?????
2. The flaming red guy standing on the porch...got the book from under the porch
now what?
3. Need to find the Keeper...got the sword...opened everything I could.
4. Found an area off the cathedral (the one where you have to rope arrow up to the ceiling) where there is one guard (now sleeping) but big gate closed...is this the ending area?
Help.
:erg:
Nevermind: Thanks to OldMans post regarding the switch that opens the door
back at the entrance to Hell I was able to open the door again and get back
out to the church. Finally made it thru the Lava and into Keepers, ending the
2nd Mission. Thanks.:p
I'll be back!!!!! Level 3 looks :eww:

It sounds like you think that you should be able to download at 8PM on your clock, no matter where on the planet you are, and that's just not reasonable. (For one thing, I have no idea where on the planet you are.) Sorry, should have been more specific.:p
I tried to download and posted all within a few minutes @ around 12AM (that's after midnight, not noon) and I am in the Eastern time zone.
Working now though.. Thanks. :)

Lynx67,
On mission 3 (Factory) where exactly are you stuck and have you been through the large gate behind the two keeper guards towards the beginning of the mission?
There is a pressure plate on the floor in front of the gate to open it.
